Well, I think it´s safe to say that this week has been really terrible so far. Prince is dead, Chyna is gone (former female WWE star) and earlier today I found out that Video gamez network is closing down. And I´ve known the people behind VGN since the start pretty much (the site launched 10 months ago), but I guess it´s like they say. Nothing lasts forever. Not everything is of bad nature in the case with VGN´s closure though, because the site is for sale. And it seems like the VGN crew has been given the opportunity to develop mobile apps for one of the largest mobile app developers in the world (Zynga? Gameloft? Supercell?). Any ways, this is what VGN told me per mail:
“Hi Guys,
Today the VGN Team was presented with an Opportunity that we could not refuse. We will be transitioning from creating video game websites to Mobile Apps for one of the Largest Mobile App Developers in the world. So its Sad to announce that we will be closing down Video Gamez Network. In less than a year we were able to grow a huge audience with over 2000 Unique visitors a day and over 800 Active members. It was a great run and we really regret doing this.
If anyone is interested in purchasing the website please feel free to make us an offer.
As of last we were have been DDOS constantly but have since permanently blocked all those ips from interfering with VGN and also moved our Hosting. So we are just doing some tweaks now to make sure its perfect if anyone is interested in purchasing it.” – Craig, VGN
So there you have it. However, it remains to be seen whether someone will put an offer on VGN before next Thusday or not. Otherwise, I take it that VGN will be gone for good? (I really hope that´s not the case). Nevertheless, I wish the VGN team the best of luck with their mobile app development career.
