I (Robin Ek, TGG) couldn’t help myself from smiling when I realized that pretty much everything that I thought of VR as a kid is now happening for real (more or less). I mean, at the time (mid 90s) I/we only had access to Nintendo’s Virtual Boy (which was nothing less than a disaster) and some very primitive VR non for-sale consumer technology (I got the chance to try a very early version of a VR-headset at a video game show in Stockholm in the mid 90s). Anyways, if we fast-forward to the current date, then we got tons of different VR headsets and technologies to choose from. Furthermore, there are now quite a lot of game developers who’re making VR games. So we “might” get to see a big boost in VR tech if the VR games become a huge success (today’s VR tech is a big step in the right direction, but there is still a lot of work left to be done), and speaking of which.
I was just informed by a PR-person for the upcoming VR game “Gappo’s Legacy VR” that Gappo is to be shown at the comic fair of Barcelona:
“Hello Robin,
Gappo’s Legacy (www.gapposlegacy.com) is a Sci-Fi transmedia project including a series on TV, a comic and a VR videogame. The story is set in a time when mankind and machines co-exist in a non-peaceful relationship. The VR videogame is being shown in the 35th Comic Fair of Barcelona, held this weekend. The event is among the five most important comic summits in Europe. The game will be released later this year.” – Albertino Robelló, PR-person for Gappo’s Legacy VR
And from what I’ve been told, the event goes on between the 30th of March to the 2nd of April. In other words, today is the last day to see and experience “Gappo’s Legacy VR” on site. So if your interested in VR games and just happens to be in Barcelona. Then don’t miss out on your chance to check out “Gappo’s Legacy VR” =)
About Gappo’s Legacy VR:
“Gappo’s Legacy is a science fiction project in development to be distributed in television, comic, and VR game. Its universe revolves around the television show, of which the comic is a prequel and the VR game a first-person experience. The characters and story of this transmedia universe are set in a future time two centuries ahead and in a strip of desert land known as Kafke. There, intelligent conscious machines, known as makinæ, have been repudiated and condemned by humanity to coexist with technological pirates who enslave and smuggle them. In Gappo’s Legacy VR the character-player is a human who travels to Kafke and in seeing the makinæ’s harsh reality decides to join the Makina Resistance Army to fight the pirates. Shortly a game demo in arcade version will be ready and presented alognside more news at the 2º Salón del Cine y las Series in Barcelona on January 2017.” – The Gappo’s Legacy VR team
