I´ve been a fan of the Alien and Predator franchise for almost 20 years time now. And for me, everything started with the very first Alien and Predator movie. Then I became an even bigger fan once I started to play the AVP game for the Atari Jaguar. However, I didn´t become a hardcore fan until Rebellion released their “Aliens versus Predator” PC game back in 1999. And if you´re not familiar with that game, then let me tell you what. AVP1 is like a big needle full of adrenaline that gets injected direct to your blood stream. In the matter of fact, AVP1 scared the living hell out of me as a teen. And AVP2 is pretty darn good as well, in my opinion. Here´s the thing though, after AVP2 everything went down hills. And I´m not just talking about the games. No, I´m talking about the movies as well. Sure, “Alien Isolation” isn´t a bad game. Nevertheless, the game was everything but the game that I had expected it to be.

The pulserifle, your paranoia and your radar are your best friends in “Aliens HD Doom”.

And as we all know, “Aliens: Colonial Marines” and AVP (the 2010 edition) were pure garbage. So I´ve been waiting forever for a legit and kick-ass AVP-like kind of game. Well, my eternal search seems to be over. As I just found out about Kontra Kommando´s Aliens (HD) Doom (Aliens: The Ultimate Doom). Funny enough, I wrote about “Aliens: The Ultimate Doom” about one year ago. I must have forgotten all about that mod though, as it´s been a very long time since I checked up on that particular mod. Anyhow, “Aliens (HD) Doom Mod” is the next level of “Aliens: The Ultimate Doom (TC)” (the latest downloadable version would be the 8.0 beta). However, Aliens (HD) Doom” is still a “work in progress” kind of mod so to speak. Even so, I still have to admit that the mod looks pretty darn brilliant.

So if you´re a fan of Doom and the old-school AVP games. Then you should most definitely keep an eye on the Aliens (HD Doom mod, and give “Aliens: The Ultimate Doom (TC)” a try. I would also recommend you to check out Kontra Kommand´s thread on the Zdoom forum. As he (or she) has posted tons of pictures, movies and updates about his or her Aliens Doom mod in that thread.
