I know, i know. This is not Half-Life 3. But i´m still very happy over the fact that Crowbar Collective´s “Black Mesa” (which runs on the Source engine) is now available via Steam as an early access release (you can buy it for 19,99 Euro). Because the Black Mesa team has tweaked Black Mesa (aka “The Half-Life 1 remake” project) quite a lot since the free release (Black Mesa was originally released back in 2012).

But yeah, there´s still a lot of fixes and tweaks left to be done. But the Crowbar Collective sure don´t waste any time, as they released the Black Mesa 1.0.1 patch yesterday. And the team is about 85% done with the single-player campaign. The last 15% will take quite a while to finish though, so don´t hold your breath while you wait for the final production of Black Mesa

At least he doesn’t have to worry about anything else for the time being.

But even in an unfinished state, Black Mesa is freaking awesome. As you get +10 hours of gameplay value, team death match modes and multiplayer death match support. And the final version of Black Mesa will offer new multiplayer maps, mods and the Xen chapters. I should also point out that the Black Mesa team has also added new voice acting, a new soundtrack and new choreography to Black Mesa, the game also supports Steam Workshop.

So if you´re a Half-Life fan, then don´t miss out on the early acccess version of Black Mesa on Steam!

About Black Mesa:
Run. Think. Shoot. Source.

Black Mesa is a re-envisioning of Valve Software’s seminal classic Half-Life. Gordon Freeman and his unforgettable journey through the Black Mesa Research Facility have been lovingly re-created to capture the full spirit of the original game, without 1998’s graphical limitations. This is Half-Life the way it was meant to be played!
