I just realized that it’s been years since I heard anything about the Argentina based indie games studio Blyts. In the matter of fact, the last time that I wrote about them was when I made a video for their point-and-click game “Kelvin and the Infamous Machine” (the video was uploaded in December, 2014). Well, the silence was broken today as Blyts informed me (Robin Ek, TGG) that they plan to launch a Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming sci-fi strategy game “STELLIUM” (which in development for Windows, MAC, Linux and iOS):
“Hi there,
On May 10th, our team at Blyts is launching the Kickstarter campaign for STELLIUM, a sci-fi strategy game with the look and feel of a traditional point-and-click adventure. We like to think of it as a more narrative-focused twist on Fallout Shelter that features a non-linear mystery with echoes of Her Story. Our previous release, Kelvin and the Infamous Machine, was a critically acclaimed love letter to classic point-and-clicks, and now we’re excited to bring its distinctive hand-drawn art style and strong writing to a new genre.” – Blyts
In other words, Blyts will kick-off their Kickstarter campaign for “Stellium” on the 10th of May, and “if” everything works out as planned. Then we should be able to play “Stellium” in October 2018 (the game is said to have 14,99 USD launch price). So that’s some really good news for those who’s into sci-fi and strategy games with no doubt =) And if you’re curious about the plot in “Stellium”, then here it is:
“Frank Donner is the newest director of Dome 61, an industrial mining facility on a barren world. The dome specializes in the extraction of Stellium, a rare mineral that’s used to stabilize Earth’s deteriorating atmosphere. Upon arriving at his post, Donner receives an ominous briefing from SYS, the dome’s artificial intelligence: Donner’s predecessor vanished under bizarre circumstances, and the facility’s supplies are nearing depletion. To make matters all the worse, members of the crew have begun contracting a seemingly untraceable virus, with truly horrifying effects.
As the situation grows ever more dire, Donner must lead his team of miners, engineers, doctors, and other specialists to keep the dome operational until another source of Stellium can be secured for Earth’s consumption. Can he make the difficult choices necessary to save everything—and everyone—that he can?”
Well, I don’t know about you, but I think that sounds pretty darn awesome. However, I am yet to know if there will be a playable demo for “Stellium”. So I’m going to ask Blyts about it. As for here and now though, you can watch the very first trailer for the game down below!
