Oh dear me, it’s been over one year since I wrote our PC preview for Cubical Drift’s open world block-based sci-fi RPG “Stellar Overload” (the post was published in January of 2016). Furthermore, it’s been almost three years since we did our “Planets3” interview with Cubical Drift. My point would be that “Stellar Overload” (aka “Planets3”) has come a very long way since the projected originally started (Planets3’s Kickstarter kicked off back in March, 2014). So as you might imagine, I got quite surprised and happy when I received the news that Cubical Drift has released a video dev diary series for “Stellar Overload”. Yes, that’s right, and here’s what Cubical Drift told us:
“Have you ever wondered how video games are being created? The indie studio Cubical Drift just released a series of short videos showing the different steps in the creation of their video game Stellar Overload. Discover the human adventure of 3 friends who make their dream come true: create a video game. Follow their journey on how they started, from a simple idea all the way to the creation of a whole universe, from the character modelisation to the musical composition.
These short videos, made for the general public, unveil the behind the scene work of these dedicated video game craftsmen. Stellar Overload is still in development, but keeps enriching its content for its community. On September 14th the studio released an update offering its players new content (characters, dungeons, weapon) and many improvements (crafting, interface, …)” – Cubical Drift
In other words, if you’re interested in “Stellar Overload” and game development in general, then you probably don’t want to miss out Cubical Drift’s video diary series for their game =) (you will find the video further down the page). I would also like to point out that “Stellar Overload” is yet to come out of its early access state, so there might be a lot of stuff that’s not 100% final in the video footage. Other than that, I just found out that Cubical Drift has just released v5.0 of “Stellar Overload”. So you might want to check that one out as well.
And with that said, what’s your take on this matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
