I don´t know if I have mentioned it before, but I´m one of those people who grew up playing NES games in the late 80s. So I´m kind of used to playing really tough games. Even so, there is one particular NES game that always pops up in my mind every time someone mentions “hard games”, and that game would be “Ninja Gaiden” (watch AVGN´s “Ninja Scroll” video for more details on that matter). Well, let´s just say that I have a very strong “love hate” kind of relationship to that game.
Nevertheless, I still love the fact that one could beat “Ninja Gaiden” if you are determined enough to master the game like champ. So yeah, I got quite excited when I found out about the upcoming NES style ninja platformer “Cyber Shadow” (the game is being developed in construct 2, and follows the NES limitations, but not religiously), because you can really tell by the looks and feel of the game that “Cyber Shadow” is heavily inspired by “Ninja Gaiden”. Furthermore, there is some “Megaman”, “Castlevania” and “Metroid” vibes to it as well. In other words, it´s a really nice mix of games which I (and many others) truly love to bits.
So, what about the gameplay aspects of “Cyber Shadow” then? Well, these are some of the features that will be included into the final version of the game (according to the developers):
– NES style controls with two buttons.
– Sub weapons – throwing stars, explosive kunai, rising fire, lightning strike
– Health/Skill point upgrades
– 20 or so Enemy types.
So far, so good. However, to my knowledge there is no nailed down release date for “Cyber Shadow” just yet (the game will be released via Steam for Windows and MAC). That´s also why I will update this post once I know more about the matter (my guess would be that “Cyber Shadow” will be released sometime this year, maybe during the summer?). I do have some good news to share here and now though, because four levels, eight bosses and four skills have already done and made for the game. So I take it that the developers have come quite a long way with the development of “Cyber Shadow”?
Well, I guess that I (and you) will just have to sit tight until we get some more information from the developers (a gameplay trailer would be nice as well). So I take it that now is the perfect time for me to try to playthrough “Ninja Gaiden” while waiting for “Cyber Shadow” to drop on Steam? You know, to get into shape before “Cyber Shadow” hits the market?
And with that said, what do you guys and girls think about “Cyber Shadow” so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
