I am sorry to inform you all that it appears as if there will be no Kickstarter campaign for “Dragonpunk” (don´t miss out on our interview with the developers behind “Dragonpunk!”), because late last night Team Dragonpunk posted the following information on their petition page via change.org:
“FEB 7, 2017 — Thank you all for signing this petition! We just received a call from Take Two, the parent company for Firaxis. They respectfully declined to allow a Kickstarter. We always knew this business model was not without risk, and we respect their decision. Please look for our Dragonpunk Demo built-in Amazon Lumberyard!” – Team Dragonpunk
So I take it that the Dragonpunk team just have to create their own game (that is not based on an IP which they don´t own) in-order for them to kick-off a Kickstarter campaign for it. Oh well…Sadly enough I had a feeling that things would end up like this. Nevertheless, I wish Team Dragonpunk the best of luck with everything, and I´m quite sure that they will be able to create their own IP in the near future.
About Dragonpunk:
Dark-Fantasy and Cyberpunk collide in the Dragonpunk Universe. Mythological creatures live alongside, often violently, near-future technology. This is a player designed world that is constantly changing and adapting. We’re releasing our XCOM 2 content through 7 mods that individually compliment the traditional XCOM 2 experience. Perhaps you’re only looking for additional drones, without magic or Dragons, we’ll that’s possible. Just load the Dragonpunk Drone Mod and all new XCOM 2 games will have the option for additional drones. We also separated the content into 7 unique mods due to the unique time it takes to create the content. While we expect to release the Dragonpunk Multiplayer Mod relatively quickly, the Dragon Mod will most likely be last considering the time it takes to animate, rig, and voice the Dragons. While we think the dragons will be worth the wait, we want players to enjoy the other six mods as soon as possible.
