I know that quite a lot of people have complained that the FPS genre hasen´t changed (or evolved) all that much over the years.
But there´s actually a handful of devs (especially on the indie scene) that tries really hard to evolve the FPS genre.
Such as Brilliant Skies and their physics-driven adventure/RPG warfare game “From the Depths” for example.
And From the Depths just happens to be available as a early access version via Steam (you can buy the game for 19,99 Euro at the moment).
So if you like the trailer for From the Depths, then you might wanna consider pre-ordering the game.
About From the Depths:
From the Depths physics-driven, warfare game where you design and build your own vehicles block by block. You can build and take first-person command of galleons, planes, submarines, hot air balloons helicopters and space ships in a bid to win the spoils of war, destroying enemy fleets and enormous monsters.
Players man the weapons, repair damage and repel boarders while delivering broadsides and bombing runs in many single player and soon multiplayer game modes.
Features:
– Design and build your own vehicle, however you want, from a selection of 230 different components.
– Realistic physics – every block destroyed or added affects the vehicle’s functionality, physics and control.
– Use the spoils of war to unlock new equipment and abilities and level up your character in a range of skills.
– The sky’s the limit – cannons, lasers, mines, bombs, missiles, torpedoes, propellers, rudders, jet engines, wings, hydrofoils, hot air balloons, anchors, fire control computers, and loads more.
– Design custom weaponry, engines, AI mainframes and more. For example you can create missiles, torpedoes, bombs and depth charges by modularly combining different warheads, thrusters, fins, navigation units, fuel pods, fuses, IR seekers, sonars, laser designators, magnets, ballast tanks and many more, to deliver a truly bespoke weapon.
