I´m most likely not the only person who has dreamed about becoming a real-life Harry Potter (I have loved magic since I found out about the “simon the sorcerer” and “Discworld” series as a child) . You know, as in using magic and whatnot? Sure, there have been quite a few Harry Potter games in the past. However, none of them really let´s you become one with the game (think Pokémon GO, but with magic). Well, that´s just about to change. Because not so long ago I (Robin) was contacted by Lenka Franekova (marketing representative) from Team Maguss, and she told me about their upcoming F2P mobile MMORPG spell casting gameMaguss” (Team Maguss and Arrow Electronics is working on the game together):

“Hi The Gaming Ground!

My name is Lenka and I am member of Maguss team, I am writing you on behalf of our entire team and I  would like to introduce you our project which I hope you will like.

Maguss Wand is an AR mobile game that has been in development for almost 2 years now. The game allows you to walk and explore the earth while experiencing and living in the fantasy at the same time. It let’s a player to become a wizard in the real world through immersive gameplay. One can explore magic, study wizardry, collect herbs and other ingredients, brew potions, cast and defend spells, win duels and gain glory.

You can find more information about Maguss in our Indiegogo campaign – https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/maguss-the-mobile-multiplayer-spell-casting-game-magic#/

We’re trying hard to bring this game to the reality with limited resources, so if you like our game and would like to play it soon, we would be more than happy if you could help us spread the word. – Lenka Franekova, Maguss Development Team

maguss the mobile multiplayer spell casting game

The moment when you get a game that´s like a mix of Harry Potter and Pokémon Go (Harry Potter GO?).

In other words, if you could imagine a Harry Potter GO game (yes, you do actually cast spells with your smartphone or the Maguss Wand), then Maguss is very close to that. Well, at least that´s the vibes that I got from the official trailer (you will find the trailer further down the page) and from the game´s features list:

– Join the Order and compete for the top spot
– Cast mighty spells with your phone or channel magic through Maguss Wand
– Duel other wizards face to face or choose long distance mode
– Explore dungeons of the Underworld and embark on exciting quests
– Battle various creatures all around the globe
– Capture and tame wild monsters and make them stand by your side
– Master numerous professions from enchanting to potion brewing
– Visit long forgotten places and hunt for rare ingredients

Especially since it´s said that the world will be your stage. So that means that you should be able to collect ingredients, brew potions, raid dungeons, learn spells and fight monsters (and whatnot) wherever you may go. That sounds pretty cool huh? Well, I sure think so at least, and by the looks of it. I´m far from alone to have those thoughts. You see. Maguss is already 158% funded via indiegogo (the game has raised almost 80,000 USD in total, and there is still three days left on Maguss indiegogo campaign). So I take it that a lot of Harry Potter fans will give Maguss a go once the game drops on the mobile market in February next year.
