Some people will never understand why you love NES games so much. Because for me it´s not “just” the nostalgia kicks. It´s also because i really love the look and the feel of NES games (8-bit perfection).

It’s just something really unique and special about awesome NES games. Games such as “Batman” and “Shatterhand” for example.

And speaking of which, the upcoming 2D action/platformer “Steel Assault” (for PC), just happens to be inspired by those games.

“Shatterhand” and “Batman” anyone?

A game which mr Sri Kankanahalli and Daniel Garcia is working really hard on as we speak. So i sure hope that Steel Assault will reach it´s $8,000 Kickstarter goal (1,600 bucks has been collected so far).

Because i sure would love to give Steel Assault a go! And do to the fact that there´s 28 days left on the Kickstarter campaign. It seems rather likely that i indeed will get that great pleasure.

About Steel Assault:
Steel Assault is a 2D side-scrolling action game for PC, set in the year 2040 after revolts and fascist uprising have shocked the United States. As technological advances continued into the 2030s, the United States’s economic foundations caved in. Peaceful protests devolved into riots and all-out civil war, as people starved in the streets.

One man rose to power out of the rubble: General Magnus Pierce, a cruel and ruthless tyrant with delusions of restoring America’s former grandeur. You play as a resistance soldier equipped with a powerful robotic suit (one of the last of its kind), dropped into a long-abandoned enemy-occupied Washington, D.C. The game mainly focuses on close combat, but the player is also equipped with a variety of different weapons.

Its aesthetic is inspired by late 8-bit games on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), such as Shatterhand and Batman. These games utilized heavy dithering and details in negative space to create a dark atmosphere within the primitive system’s limitations.
