I don’t know if you guys and girls are into old-school-like point-and-click adventure games, but I have always liked games of that kind. Well, at least for as long as I can remember (my first point-and-click game was “Simon the sorcerer”). In the matter of fact, I still love adventure games like “Discworld”, “Grim Fandango”, “Monkey Island” and “Sam and Max”. As I find those titles to be timeless and ageless. That’s also why I got rather excited when Buka Entertainment (they are a Russian video game publisher) informed us that Epic LLama’s colorful 2D adventure game “Darkestville Castle” is coming to Steam very soon (the game is said to launch to Windows and MAC on the 21st of September via Steam):
“Hi!
I’m a community-manager of Russian video game publisher Buka Entertainment. For many years now, we’ve been distributing major video games on the Russian market. I know, I know that it’s not so easy to hit the big media with news about indie games, but I’ll try anyway.
Just recently, we’ve decided to expand our business into the new field and started to work with young and promising developers. Really soon, on September 21st we’re releasing on Steam 2D Adventure game Darkestville Castle developed by Argentinean studio Epic LLama. This game pays a tribute to the good old adventure games in a spirit of Monkey Island. That’s hard to argue that these games are pretty rare nowadays, that’s why it would be awesome if you could spend some time and check out it’s demo version! It is now available on game Steam page.” – Buka Entertainment
In other words, “if” everything goes according to plan, then MAC and Windows users should be able to play “Darkestville Castle” by the 21st of September (which would be on Thursday next week). That’s great news for fans of old-school point-and-click games with no doubt, but what exactly is this game all about then? Well, here’s Epic LLama’s description of “Darkestville Castle”:
“DarkestvilleCastle is a colorful 2D classicpoint’n’click Adventure game with a deep fairy-tale story, created by Argentinean development studio EPIC LLama and Russian publisher Buka Entertainment. Vivid visuals, smart puzzles, dozens of funny characters and classic point’n’click gameplay in the same vein as Monkey Island and other video games of the The Golden Age of Adventure Games create the exciting atmosphere which won’t disappoint you. Darkestville Castle already won the “Best Narrative 2016” award at Casual Connect Conference and it was nominated for “Best PC Game” award at Awesome Games Awards and for “Excellence in Narrative” at DevGAMM 2017!” – Epic LLama
As for the actual background story, here’s what you can expect of the “Darkestville Castle” universe:
“Like any decent demon Cid spends his nights performing all kind of evil deeds to the peaceful people of Darkestville. Little does he know that his old arch-enemy is about to change his life forever. Live the adventure of Cid, the demon of Darkestville, a laid-back being of pure darkness that will see his evil routine life disrupted by The Romero brothers, a group of demon hunters hired by Dan Teapot, Cid’s arch enemy. Follow CId through an epic quest full of danger, intrigue, and ridiculous premises”
So, what about game features then? Have no worries! Well, at least I find Darkestville Castle’s features to look rather promising:
Key Features:

– Lots of Tim Burton-esque gallows humor
