It’s been a very long time since I heard anything about ArtCraft Entertainment’s MMORPG “Crowfall“. In the matter of fact, I have just mentioned the game briefly in one of our Youtube videos from last year. Anyways, I just found out that “Crowfall” is not going to make its 2017 launch as promised (the 2016 launch didn’t turn out as planned either *cough cough*). However, I also found out that “Crowfall” just secured another six million USD of funding, and that ArtCraft has had a really great year with “Crowfall”.
So here’s what ArtCraft had to say about the matter:
“After a lot of discussion over the summer, we decided to do a larger raise to expand our game content, cover all launch expenses and to have enough funds to drive a respectable marketing campaign at launch,” J. Todd Coleman and Gordon Walton write today on the official site. “We believe this is the right approach, so we pitched it to our investors. They agreed. We are delighted to announce that on December 1st, we closed another financing round for an additional $6 million. This money will be used to fund the completion, launch and marketing of Crowfall. This means we’ll be hiring a few more people, we’ll be able to invest more in our live infrastructure and support more players; and we’ll be able to get some real attention once the game is ready.”
Readers will recall that Crowfall originally raised $1.7M on Kickstarter in 2015, continuing crowdfunding on its site over the last few years to a total of $4M. Earlier in 2017, the game studio took advantage of new equity crowdfunding regulations to launch an investment campaign through Indiegogo that allowed regular gamers (not just accredited investors) to invest in the company; that campaign raised over $600K. By our count, that means the game has raised over $12M that we know of in addition to its outside and startup investment. – J. Todd Coleman and Gordon Walton, ArtCraft Entertainment
In other words, “hopefully” we will get to play the full version of “Crowfall” during next year =) And for those who have no idea what “Crowfall” is all about, here’s a short description of the game:
“Crowfall is a new type of Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). The Worlds of Crowfall feature unique maps, rules, and victory conditions. Every World is different, and players join teams (Factions, Guilds or Noble Houses) to vie for control of each World. We call it a Throne War Simulator.”
I would also like to point out that ArtCraft posted a “Q&A” video via Youtube just recently (you can watch the video further down the page). So you might want to check that one out if you want to know more about what’s going down with “Crowfall” at the moment.
And with that said, what’s your take on this matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
