It’s been about two months since I published my post about Connor O.R.T. Linning’s upcoming 2D RPG/adventure game “Towards The Pantheon“, and during that time quite a lot of things have happened. For starter, is now said to launch sometime during 2018 instead of its previous said 2017 launch date (the 20th of October). Other than that, Connor informed me that he has just uploaded a brand-new trailer for Towards The Pantheon” (you can watch the trailer further down the page):
“Lead developer Connor O.R.T. Linning has released a new teaser video for his upcoming 2D RPG Towards The Pantheon. Late during a cold night lead protagonists Freyja, Bam, Mishima, and Phenez find themselves warming up by the campfire – and here is where Towards The Pantheon differs from other indie and AAA role-playing games. While Towards The Pantheon forgoes the RPG cliches of elemental elements, potions, and other fantasy cliches in favor of an original and unique premise and setting, the game also focuses heavily on atmosphere, character development, and dark themes.
In Towards The Pantheon players save their games by entering tents which are found throughout the overworld, and inside these tents players can listen in on these late night conversations. There are also plenty of other opportunities for character development; dialog and routines of NPCs change as the game progresses, players can listen in on dialog between the main characters in the overworld, and memos can be found that detail the full backstory and lore of Towards The Pantheon.
In February 2017 Towards The Pantheon was successfully Greenlit on Steam just after the announcement that Steam was deciding to close down their Greenlight process. In October 2017 the free prequel game Towards The Pantheon: Escaping Eternity released on Steam, Itch.io, and Gamejolt to “Very Positive” reviews as described by Steam’s review system, and over 15,000 unique downloads.
Progress updates and new screenshots are posted everyday across social media accounts, and the efforts to promote and spread the word about Towards The Pantheon will only increase as development efforts ramp up as the game prepares for release sometime in 2018.” – Connor O.R.T. Linning
In other words, it’s great news for those who like 2D old-school-like RPG/adventure games. I would also like to point out that you can play the prequel “Towards The Pantheon: Escaping Eternity” for free via Steam, itch and Gamejolt. So don’t miss out on that one! As for here and now though, you can watch the new trailer for “Towards The Pantheon” down below.
