The ToeJam and Earl Kickstarter has been successfully funded, and fans couldn’t be happier. The next installment in the cult ToeJam and Earl series, ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove, hit its goal earlier today with days still left in its limit.

Over 7,400 backers pledged over $418,000 to the new game’s success hoping that it would take fruit.

Their hopes were paid in full as the game will now begin production thanks to the wonderful fan base that it garnered so many years ago. If it hits the required stretch goals of $600,000 it will reach the Playstation 4 console.

The good news is that backers will receive old school Toe Jam and Earl skins if they hit their goal of $425,000 before it closes out.

Series creator Greg Johnson explained at the game will draw mainly from the first title and will also pull some popular features from rhythm-based game ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron.

Toejam and Earl is back in biz again!

Levels will be randomly generated, and a bevy of traditional features will be integrated, such as a fixed isometric camera, 2D sprites, simple controls and up to four player online or split screen co-op.

Either way, the game will be impressive given the time-lapse between its last release and now. With the goal of releasing on Linux, Mac, and Windows ToeJam and Earl is looking to restore the lost nostalgia we had as kids and bring it to a new generation to enjoy.
