Capcom is gearing up to release a CGI reboot of the animated films. The project is already speculated to kick its performance out of the park. Directed by Takanori Tsujimoto for Marza Animaton Planet, the feature is characterized as a reboot of the CG franchise, featuring such game characters as Chris Redfield, Rebecca Chambers and Leon Kennedy.
The other entries into the animated series Resident Evil Degeneration (2008) and Resident Evil Damn action (2012) were massive hits with fans. If this CGI reboot can do the same, it will spell a true revival of Resident Evil as a series. Knowing how badly Resident Evil 6 performed, the success is desperately needed for Capcom. Although the film doesn’t debut until 2017, we can already tell from the cast mentioned above that we’ll be in for a lot of surprises, and hopefully some familiar faces. Maybe Jill Valentine or Barry Burton from Resident Evil could appear. Stay tuned for more as it develops on this story.
