Most of the time i get a bad feeling when i hear that there´s a new video game movie in the making. Because we all know how that usually turns out in the end.
But there has actually been some rather good video game movies over the years. Such as “Wreck it ralph”, “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” and “Mortal Kombat” (the first movie).
I have to admit though, years can pass before we get the pleasure to enjoy a good video game movie again. As 9/10 movies ends up being pure crap.
So i´m not quite sure what i should feel about Adam Sandler and Chris Columbus (Home Alone 1 and 2, Mrs. Doubtfire, Monkeybone) upcoming movie “Pixels” (which has a budget of 110 million dollars).
The movie has quite a few good actors in it though. Such as Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Brian Cox and even Adam Sandler himself.
So what kind of movie is “Pixels” then? Well, it´s a 3D science fiction action comedy. That´s heavly inspired by the classic Arcade games of the 70s and 80s (Pac-Man for example).
And thus the theme of the movie. In fact, the whole movie plot is based on the fact that aliens declare war on humanity because of video games (because of all the video games that allows you to kill aliens).
So what do the Aliens do to us as a revenge? They bring the video games to life and release them to hunt us down. Sounds pretty cool if you ask me.
So i might just give “Pixels” a chance once it get´s released in July this summer (July 24th).
