I honestly don’t know why this hasn’t been mentioned all that much in media lately. But if it hadn’t been fora lady called “Anne Garboczi Evans“.
I wouldn’t have known that there´s a fight over the internet (for a free and open internet) in America (and other places as well). You might know (or recognizes) the word “net neutrality“?
Well, that´s basically what this is all about. Keeping the internet free and open for everyone. Because that would not be the case if big company’s starts to “own” the internet.
And that´s what the “Battle for the net” homepage is 100% dedicated to. Which would be informing the people of America about what´s going down behind the curtains.
And it all boils down to Team Cable (the bad guys. Cable companies + corrupt politicians Vs Team internet (the good guys).
I should point out that both camps consists of politics from the US congress (Obama is on Team internet´s side for example), and different corporations (for and against net neutrality) .
So i think it´s really important that people get involved in this. Because this is something that will affect us all (sooner or later).
And if you wanna know more about Net neutrality and “the battle for the internet”, then i would suggest that you pay the “battle for the internet” homepage a little visit.
I should also point out that there´s politichens in Europe that wants to tax internet users (yes, it´s no joke). So, let´s take up the fight for an open and free internet!
We’re in the battle for the net.
Cable companies want to end net neutrality, so they can manipulate our Internet for profit. 4 million people, 40,000 websites–and now even President Obama–have spoken out, demanding FCC rules to keep the Internet the way it is: free & open.
Now, the FCC must act. No delays. But some members of Congress are interfering, on behalf of their cable company donors.
