You don´t have to be an American to understand that the US 2016 presidential election is a big deal, as it´s all over the place. And due to the fact that Donald Trump brings the noise where ever he goes (TV, radio, newspapers you name it!), trump has become a hot topic worldwide (Trump´s “Make America great again” slogan is known all over the world pretty much). However, I´m not going to cover politics (there are other sites for that, such as breithart). No, instead I´m going to focus on the ongoing fuss involving EA and a Donald Trump video. And from what I´ve seen and heard so far, it seems like EA has abused Twitter´s reporting system. Because apparently EA had Twitter to remove a Donald Trump “Make America great again” video (the video was embedded within a tweet), as the video contains a song from Mass Effect (ME2?):
And when I found out about this (which would be about one hour ago), I immediately thought about the “Streisand effect” (censored content has the tendency to make people more curious and hungry to see the “forbidden” content in question even more). Well, I wasn´t wrong. Because that´s exactly what´s going down right now, and as for EA and their copyright abusive practices. Well, If I´m not wrong now. The Donald Trump video (containing a Mass Effect song, “Heart of Courage” by Two Steps From Hell. To be exact, and the song were used for ME2´s launch trailer). It was used for the ME2 launch trailer.) falls under the “fair use” act. And if that´s the case, then it was a really cheap move by EA. And on a personal level. I think that EA could have sorted all of this out more professionally, because the aftermath could have been avoided if EA had contacted the Trump camp about the tweet and the video.
With that said, what´s your take on this matter? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
