The day that Twitter decided to become the new Facebook

I had a feeling that Twitter would become even worse with time when I wrote my article about Milo Yiannopoulos back in January, because there were no signs at all of Twitter coming to their senses at the time. And sadly enough I was right. However, it´s now far worse than I could ever imagine. You see. Twitter came up with the brilliant idea of turning its service into a Facebook-like system (the FB algorithm). In short, Twitter wants to turn Twitter into a Facebook light service. And “if” Twitters new service becomes a reality (buzzfeed believes that Twitter “might”implement this new algorithmic timeline sometime next week), then it means that we can kiss our chronological Twitter timelines good-bye. As the brand-new Twitter system will display our tweets based on what you (we) want to read. And this has made a lot of Twitter users really angry and upset (thus the #RIPTwitter hashtag):

A lot of people dislike Facebook (many jumped over to Twitter to get away from FB), so it was a really brilliant idea to turn Twitter into a “Facebook light” kind of service.

I think it´s quite obvious that Twitter doesn´t even know their own users all that well.

From my point of view, it seems like Twitter have no idea (whatsoever) what their users want, and don’t want.

And as you might imagine, all of this anger has affected Twitter´s stocks in a negative kind of way. And by the looks of it, Twitter´s stockprice will keep on falling for many more days to come. And not to sound selfish or anything, but I have spent a lot of time and money on Twitter (we joined Twitter back in May, 2010) and we have almost 48,000 followers nowadays. So this will affect us quite a lot. In a way, it feels like Twitter is killing of everything which I (we) have worked so hard for (almost six years of work is just about to get flushed down the toilet, all thanks to Twitters stupid business decisions).

Twitter´s stocks is falling like a rock in the ocean.

Let´s be fair though, Twitter has just become worse and worse over time. I mean, Twitter is not the same company as they were back in 2006. Hell, even back in 2010 (which were the year that we signed up for Twitter) Twitter wasn´t this foolish. Nowadays, though, Twitter seems to have no limits (whatsoever) when it comes to making really bad decisions. So we might actually get to witness the end of Twitter as we know it, a so-called “business suicide”.

Twitter and Feminist Frequency has joined forces?

That´s just the half of it though. As Twitter also decided that it would be a great idea to join forces with Feminist Frequency (Anita Serkessian) and Zoé Quinn. You know, the very same people who have caused one scandal after another? Well, guess what? The very same people are now giving advice to Twitter on how they can improve their platform (what could possibly go wrong there…). And the madness doesn´t stop there, because now it´s quite obvious why Milo Yiannopoulos lost his Twitter verification certificate back in January last year. And why #GamerGate supporters are getting banned from Twitter, because apparently Michael Margolis (Margolis works as an engineering manager at Twitter) is close friends with Feminist Frequency (Anita Serkessian and friends). So one could say that Twitter has now officially become a safe space/SJW/feminist platform. And I was far from the only one that felt like that when I found out about all of this earlier today:

Could it be a pure coincidence? I think not!

Twitter, the joke is on you

I would also like to point out that the #RIPTwitter hashtag is the third most popular trend on Twitter right now, so I really hope that Twitter will pay close attention to what their community has to say. Because if they don´t do that, then Twitter will go down the very same road as Reddit and The Fine Bros did (the road to self-destruction). And quite frankly, I don´t even know if Twitter will be able to recover from this gigantic blunder of theirs. In the matter of fact, I think I (we) need to find a new social media platform (maybe Voat could create their own social media service?). As it seems like Twitter has already made up their minds about destroying their own company…

I wonder how many users Twitter will lose because of their new system?

Like AVGN would have said, “What were they thinking!?”.

Well, Twitter stated that they wanted to create a “safe space”…
