New videogame music ensemble brings traditional jazz to Nintendo classics including Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and Tetris with debut album “Press Start”.

Press release:
FAIRFAX – November 20, 2017 – OverClocked Records proudly welcomes Southern California’s 8-bit Jazz Heroes to its label with the duo’s debut album Press Start. Featuring ten laid-back jazz renditions of several classic Nintendo themes arranged for guitar and upright bass, Adam Bellotto and Robby Delosier arrive at OC Records with the goal of giving good vibes and helping listeners unwind. Tackling several treasured themes from the Mario and Zelda franchises alongside Metroid and Tetris, Press Start is a smoothly-crafted set of nostalgic

Nintendo instrumentals transported to a west coast jazz club setting. Press Start is licensed and available wherever digital music is sold:

01. Plumber’s Jump (Theme from Super Mario Bros.)
02. Catch That Penguin (Slider Theme from Super Mario 64)
03. Another Water Level (Dire, Dire Docks from Super Mario 64)
04. Doki Doki Swing (Theme from Super Mario Bros. 2)
05. Bounty Hunter Bounce (Metroid Medley)
06. Falling Blocks (Type A from Tetris)
07. Halcyon Hyrule (Title Theme from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
08. Windmill’s Waltz (Song of Storms from Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
09. Requiem in Forest Green (Lost Woods from Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
10. It’s Dangerous to Go Alone! (Theme from The Legend of Zelda)

“When you think of the legendary works of Koji Kondo and Hip Tanaka, they’re generally upbeat ditties, so it’s fun and unique to hear special themes like these slowed down and delivered with a more mellow, relaxed energy,” notes OC Records co-founder Larry Oji. “Upright bass in particular has a lovely sound that you don’t hear often enough in game music, so you’re going to enjoy everything the Heroes have brought to Press Start. We’re certainly looking forward to Adam and Robby’s future arrangements and can’t wait to hear what else they’ve got up their sleeves!”

Press Start’s ten pieces pull from fan-favorite Nintendo games including Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, Metroid, and the Game Boy staple Tetris.

About 8-Bit Jazz Heroes
Guitarist Adam Bellotto and upright bassist Robby Delosier make up the 8-bit Jazz Heroes, based out of Southern California. Both Adam and Robby have a wealth of music experience (40 years between the two of them). Individually, they’ve performed at the Kennedy Center, the Arsenio Hall Show, Twins Jazz, the Blues Alley Jazz, and Supper Club. Adam and Robby also have over 60 years experience sitting on their butts and playing videogames. And one day they had the genius idea to put both of those things together.

Now they’re the 8-bit Jazz Heroes, a duo that arranges and performs jazz interpretations of classic video game music (with the occasional movie or TV theme in there). The Heroes have only been around since September of 2016, but they’ve already performed at the biggest conventions, the smallest parties and everything in-between.
