Press release:
Aeternum Game Studios has just revealed new details about the long-awaited DLC for its Metroidvania game “Aeterna Noctis“. Almost two months have passed since the studio confirmed that they are working on the “Pit of the Damned”, the first DLC for “Aeterna Noctis”, an additional content that will feature interesting new gameplay features.

The development team has revealed what will be the new official cover for Aeterna Noctis on the occasion of the imminent DLC. It shows their majesties The King of Darkness, sword in hand, and the Queen of Light in a much more grim atmosphere than in the original cover.

In the centre, separating both characters, stands out the presence of a mysterious shape wrapped in a chrysalis. The Aeterna Noctis logo itself has been modified, including the name of the expected DLC.

“It is the most effective way to make it clear that this DLC will not only be free, but it will also be fully integrated into the gameplay mechanics and story of Aeterna Noctis”, the studio says.

In addition to this cover (which demands to be your new wallpaper), a new gameplay of one of the new features of this highly anticipated expansion has also been revealed: the time trials.

The video shows the King of Darkness overcoming a challenging sequence of puzzles and platforms in an environment that we didn’t see before. This addition will please the most demanding players.

The Aeterna Noctis DLC will be available for free and will have a simultaneous release on PC and consoles, and it is confirmed that the release window will be between April and June of this year.

The reason for such ambiguity about the release date? The possible incorporation of multiplayer and multiplatform scoreboard functions. From the offices of Aeternum Game Studios, they assure that the entire development team is working hard to make the time trials allow players to compete against each other, stand out among the world statistics and push themselves to achieve the best score.

Due to the efforts they are making in this regard, they have only been able to confirm that it will be sometime around the stated date without specifying it.

The dev team seems to be working at a good pace. In a matter of a few months, the DLC will be available for free to everyone who already owns a copy of Aeterna Noctis, both on PC and Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. At the same time, the Pit of the Damned will become an integrated part of the base game for all new players.

It is more than likely that during the next few weeks, Aeternum Game Studios will reveal new details about this highly anticipated DLC. 2023 promises to be a great year for the company and the Aeterna Universe, thanks to the release of the Pit of the Damned and the multiplatform launch later this year of Summum Aeterna, the prequel to Aeterna Noctis in Roguelite format.
