Press release:
ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS – January 31, 2023.
Starting today, the co-op puzzle adventure game “We Were Here Forever” is available on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

With the console release comes cross-play, making this the first game in the series where explorers can connect on their preferred platforms! Never before has it been so easy to play with others venturing forth into the cursed Castle Rock.

“We Were Here Forever” is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic Games for €17,99 / $17,99, and with the release of the new cross-platform feature, players can experience the asymmetrical co-op puzzle game across all platforms!

A record-breaking co-op experience

The release of this award-winning co-op adventure on PC was received extremely positively by both press and the community, breaking all the studio’s previous sales records. With a 91% very positive score across more than 7,300 reviews on Steam, We Were Here Forever has proven the worth of its unique co-op concept. Additionally, it was one of the Top Steam Releases of May 2022 and received several awards and nominations, including the prestigious Best Game Design from the Dutch Game Awards and the TIGA nomination for Best Puzzle Game.

Now, with the release of We Were Here Forever on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, fans of the series can dive into this next standalone game in the puzzle adventure series on consoles. Furthermore, this latest entry also brings a new feature to the series where players can explore the game together and unravel Castle Rocks’s mystery no matter their platform, as it brings the cross-platform feature along with its release. Connecting with other players and developing friendships that last a lifetime has never been so easy!

Marion Strumpel from Total Mayhem Games says: “We’re very excited to finally release the latest game in our series on consoles. And now with the new cross-platform feature even more new players can make (or break!) friendships on this adventure, whatever their favourite platform! This is a huge moment – not just for our fans but also for us – and we plan to continue working on the series to make many more memorable moments possible!”

Do you have what it takes to escape Castle Rock?

It’s time for explorers to return to the frozen Antarctic in We Were Here Forever, the latest entry in the We We Here series. After multiple highly lauded releases, fans of the series are plunged into another adventure with new and improved visuals. Spanning more than 12 hours, We Were Here Forever offers a thrilling continuation of the story and marks the series’ longest game to date! Players who are new to the series need not worry; this game can of course be enjoyed as a standalone experience as well.

The lost explorers from previous games will once again find themselves separated from each other in the dungeons of Castle Rock, armed with nothing but the trusty walkie-talkies that form the sole connection between themselves and their partners. Together, they must make their way through – and out of – the depths of this evil, magical realm. Because of the new, more freeform design to the puzzles and the environment, this adventure will unfold differently for every pair of explorers.

In We Were Here Forever, players will uncover more of the mysterious tale of Rockbury – the town that, together with its haunted castle, sets the stage for the entire series so far. A long time ago, this town and its inhabitants attempted to revolt against a corrupted King in an effort to free themselves from this magical realm existing seemingly outside of time and space. And as you unravel more of the past, you may start to wonder: Does one ever … truly … escape Castle Rock?

We Were Here Forever is now available on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic Games!

The We Were Here Series

The co-op puzzle adventures of the We Were Here Series are playable in any order, although there is a common narrative thread running through them. The series has been enjoyed by more than 8,500,000 players since the release of We Were Here in 2017, with We Were Here Forever breaking all records within the series!

Players take the role of Antarctic explorers who find themselves caught up in a mystery revolving around the realm of Castle Rock (more backstory is revealed in the live-action video series We Were Here Stories: Chronicles of Castle Rock). Being separated most of the time, players will have to explore several areas, while every puzzle requires teamwork to be solved. Asymmetric puzzles give each partner different information, and challenge players to talk to each other and figure out exactly what information they have and how it might lead to a solution. You and your partner have nothing but your wits, a walkie-talkie, and whatever you can find on your way. Do you have what it takes to escape this mysterious realm or will you be trapped… Forever?

The features of the We Were Here Series include:

Two-player co-op: the puzzles you encounter take two to solve – you both have a role to play! Communicate via walkie-talkies, and act as each other’s eyes and ears
Connect through experience: when you find yourself in sudden danger, will you freeze, or can you keep cool and explain things clearly to your partner- before your time runs out…
On the edge of your seat: be part of a thrilling adventure in the lively world of Castle Rock as you and your partner take on the ancient powers aligned against you
Spine-tingling story: there is much to discover… and much to fear – you’ve met the Jester, but is he even the most powerful being within the walls of Castle Rock?

We Were Here, We Were Here Too, and We Were Here Together are all available on Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. We Were Here Forever released on Steam and Epic Games for PC on May 10th, 2022, and came out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on January 31st, 2023. The cross-platform feature was added along with the console release, making We Were Here Forever the series’ first game that explorers can play together across all platforms!

About the Developers
Total Mayhem Games started out in 2017 with the release of We Were Here for free on Steam. It was a great success with more than 1,500,000 downloads! They soon followed up with their first commercial games We Were Here Too and We Were Here Together on PC and consoles. The studio has only gone from strength to strength since, with the release of We Were Here Forever on PC in 2022 and on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on January 31st 2023. The console version was released with the addition of a cross-platform feature that allowed for collaboration across all platforms for the first time in the series.
