Press release:
Fat Dog Games, an independent game publisher from Poland, has released a new gameplay trailer of “Indygo” on October 10th – World Mental Health Day. Game will be available on Steam, October 24th.

Indygo is a new atmospheric, narrative game with adventure and point’n’click elements set in one location only – a painter’s workshop. It revolves around the story of a painter who suffers from depression and has been isolating himself from the world. The person who helps him live through this hard time is his girlfriend Anna. Indygo is an artistic attempt at counteracting the stigmatization of people suffering from mood disorders. The game takes place in one location only – the painter’s workshop.

This new production from Pigmentum Game Studio focuses on the topic of depression, an illness which affects more than 300 million of people worldwide and is a leading cause of disability. The creators of the game decided to offer the gamers a deeper insight into the symptoms of depression by burdening the protagonist with this severe mood disorder.

Depression is most commonly either mistaken for natural mood fluctuactions, and thus underestimated, or leads to the stigmatization of those suffering from it. Those affected by depression often function poorly in the family, at work or at school and suffer greatly. And we must remember that at its worst depression can lead to suicide, as shown in “13 Reasons Why”, a controversial Netflix series depicting the struggles of a high school student Hannah Baker, who never got the help she needed. Almost 800 000 die due to suicide every year and still not enough people suffering from this particular mood disorder get treatment. It is estimated that more than half of those affected remain untreated, even though we are now aware of many effective ways to tackle the illness.

Indygo strives to raise the awareness of depression and has been consulted with mental health specialists and people suffering from it. One will be able to take a closer look at the thoughts and actions of a painter struggling with his mood. The game has multiple endings. How the story ends, depends on the seemingly trivial decisions made by the player during the game. The room changes accordingly to the mental state of the character. The project is unique, not only due to its social engagement, but also thanks to the handmade graphics designed by Fine Arts Academy students and an original soundtrack, which adds a deep, overwhelming feel to the game.

Indygo will be out on Steam, October 24th, but players can already add it to their wishlists.
