Press release:
Tokyo, Japan — September 20, 2026 — Publisher Megabit and Norwegian studio Red Thread Games today unveiled a new trailer for Hello Sunshine, the survival mystery set in the sun-scorched ruins of a corporate empire, as part of the PC Gaming Show: Tokyo Direct.
The new footage offers a deeper look at the wasteland left behind by Sunshine, following the player as she scavenges crumbling settlements, salvage parts from downed war machines, and leans on her towering robot companion for shade, protection, and survival against the relentless heat.
This trailer also shows how the relationship between human and machine begins to develop. New scenes tease the robot growing more attentive to his human charge, culminating in a moment where he interacts with the player for the first time, lifting her into his mechanical palm in a spectacular set-piece against the night sky.
In Hello Sunshine, players walk in the shadow of their giant robot companion across a scorched world, whether playing alone or with a friend in co-op. There is one simple rule: stay out of the sun. Step outside the robot’s shade during the day and players will find that the punishing heat will eventually kill them; remain close, and they might last until nightfall.
Hello Sunshine is coming soon, wishlist on Steam today.
Key Game Features:
Walk in the shadow of a giant robot — The sun is your enemy. The robot’s shadow provides protection from the heat. Stay in the shade or risk exposure — but the further into the wasteland you venture, the greater the rewards.
Survive the freezing nights — The wasteland turns bitterly cold after sundown. After the robot stops to recharge at a Sunshine Service Station, you must stay close to keep warm. Make camp, cook food, craft new gear, upgrade your equipment, repair the robot — and keep an eye out for visiting strangers, for appearances can deceive.
Build a relationship with the robot — At first, the colossus barely acknowledges you. Over time, your bond strengthens. Assist the robot with repairs, install upgrades, and unlock new ways to interact. In return, the metal giant will aid you on your journey — locating secrets hidden in the desert, lifting you past obstacles, shielding you from threats, fighting back against hostile war machines.
Scavenge, craft, progress — Salvage resources from supply drops and storage units, scavenge downed war machines, stores, and abandoned settlements. At night, use a Sunshine Recycler to turn loot into base components, and craft gear, tools and weapons to improve your odds of survival.
Piece together the mystery of a broken world — Sunshine sold humanity a brighter future. Instead, the corporation left behind a wasteland of automated systems still waging war long after their creators vanished. Who is the Final Employee? What is the white tower at the end of the road? And what happens when the last machine remembers your name?
