Press release:
Hamburg/Munich, Germany – March 18, 2026 – One of the most acclaimed stealth strategy games of all time is returning today: Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is available on Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop from 17:00 CET / 16:00 UTC, bringing the full base game and the standalone add-on Aiko’s Choice to Nintendo’s new console.

Marking the series’ debut on a Nintendo platform, the release brings the acclaimed stealth strategy classic to a new audience in its definitive edition.

STEALTH STRATEGY REBORN ON SWITCH 2

Developed by Mimimi Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is widely regarded as a landmark title of modern stealth strategy, inspired by genre pioneers like Commandos.

Its reputation is reflected in an 85/100 Metacritic score on PC, as well as a strong first wave of positive reviews on Switch 2, including a 9/10 from Nintendo Life, which called it “a fantastic real-time tactics adventure that wows with top-notch gameplay, fantastic looks, and a set of delectable missions (…)”. It also has an outstanding awards track record plus multiple Editor’s Choice awards internationally.

In addition, Shadow Tactics has built a long-lasting reputation with players worldwide: on Steam, it holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating of 96%, based on 30,000+ user reviews, underlining its status as a modern stealth strategy classic with exceptional long-term appeal.

Now on Nintendo Switch 2, it delivers the most refined version of the game to date.

Best-in-class console version, featuring  Switch 2 mouse-mode support for unmatched precision

The Ultimate Edition includes the full 25+ hour main campaign and the Aiko’s Choice add-on

Fully optimized for Switch 2, with improved loading times and polished performance

HD (1080p) gameplay at 30 FPS in handheld mode and 4K output at 30 FPS in TV mode

With few stealth strategy experiences currently available on Nintendo Switch 2, Shadow Tactics stands out as a natural fit for the platform and its strengths.

“Shadow Tactics remains one of the defining stealth strategy games of its generation, and even after Mimimi Games sadly closed its doors in 2023, the passion for the game never faded. Together with Mimimi’s founders, Johannes Roth and Dominik Abé, and our partners, we wanted to make sure this modern classic could continue to reach new players,” says Dominik Heineccius, Marketing Director at Daedalic Entertainment. “Nintendo Switch 2 gave us the perfect opportunity to do that. Native mouse support, faster loading times, and the flexibility of seamless handheld and TV play make it a natural fit for the game’s tactical, challenging design. We’re proud to bring this modern classic to a new audience in its definitive console edition.”

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is out today on Switch 2 via the Nintendo eShop from 17:00 CET / 16:00 UTC, available as the Base Game (€39.99 / $39.99), the standalone add-on Aiko’s Choice (€19.99 / $19.99), or the Ultimate Edition bundle (€53.99 / $53.99). A MODERN REVIVAL OF CLASSIC STEALTH STRATEGY

Set against the backdrop of Japan’s Edo period, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a stealth strategy game that perfected the classic “Commandos-style” formula and brought it back to modern audiences.

You control a team of deadly specialists, each with their own unique abilities: the ninja Hayato, sniper Takuma, trap expert Yuki, samurai Mugen, and master of disguise Aiko. To succeed, you’ll need to combine their skills with careful planning and precise timing.

Each mission is a handcrafted sandbox of patrol routes, sightlines, and opportunities. Sneak through castles, monasteries, and forest camps, distract guards, set traps, poison targets, or avoid confrontation entirely.

In Shadow Tactics, success is not about reflexes, but about observation, strategy, and executing the perfect plan from the shadows.
