Press release:
February 22nd, 2024, Madrid.
Developing a historical strategy video game is a journey that always requires rigorous research and attention to detail. Especially if we’re talking about “Songs of Steel: Hispania”, which is about one of the most notable military confrontations of the Iberian Peninsula’s antiquity: the Numantine War.
The development team, made up of the Spanish studios Combat Time and Meteorbyte Studios, has released a series of Development Diaries for their video game, “Songs of Steel: Hispania”, in which they reveal the main challenges of bringing to life the epic confrontation between the Roman Republic and the Celtiberians.
Exploring topics such as character creation, adapting real-life war strategies to gameplay, and the fundamental challenges of maintaining as much historical accuracy as possible, these diaries offer a deep dive into their work.
Those who want more information about the war and the challenges they face in development can subscribe to their YouTube channel, as well as follow their Steam page to read more information about each video in the Announcements section.

About Combat Time
Combat Time was born in 2015 with the aim of producing video games linked to historical events. Their first dip in the industry was the turn-based strategy video game “Numantia”. Being aware that the title could have more potential and a bigger scope, and with the experience gained in these years, they decided to completely redesign it, creating what we currently know as “Songs of Steel: Hispania” together with Meteorbyte studio, with its launch scheduled for Q2 2024. This video game, much more ambitious and complete, inaugurates the “Songs of Steel” saga, which will address military conflicts where siege is a common denominator.
