Press release:
In case you’ve missed it, new Central & Eastern European Game Awards (CEEGA) were officially announced during the Gamescom week in Cologne at devcom 2018. Nominations in all eight categories (Visual Art, Audio, Design, Narrative, Technology, Hidden Gem, Best Mobile Game and Best Game) will be announced mid September and the ceremony will take place on October 13th, 2018 in Poland during gala hosted at Poznan Game Arena & Game Industry Conference events.

More information about CEEGA by the organisers:

A new idea has emerged in Poland, on how to strengthen regional cooperation and empower the industry in Central and Eastern region of Europe. In order to acknowledge the best developers, inspire new ones and increase the awareness of all local creators, a regional game award, namely, Central and Eastern European Game Awards – CEEGA, was born. It is not only the first award ceremony in the region but will also on a par with any other video games award in the world!

It will take place every October during Poznan Game Arena / Game Industry Conference as the Awards Ceremony. We believe that is the right place, joining the whole region at the most significant and biggest events of its kind in CEE: PGA and GIC, respectively B2C expo with 73000 visitors and B2B conference with 3200 attendees. The gala could host some 1500 guests in the concert hall there and will be prepared with the highest possible standard, also thanks to the very helpful funding from the Polish government.

We are building CEEGA together with our partner industry organizations from Central and Eastern European countries. Fourteen of them have already confirmed their participation both as contestants and members of the Jury. But soon we expect to have seventeen CEE countries working together on this project. The winners will be selected by the Jury consisting of one industry person and one game journalist from each state.

We want CEEGA to be an excellent additional promotion for games and studios nominated and awarded. With a few exceptions, this region is a little bit overlooked globally, while delivering a variety of quality games from diverse developer communities. We have confirmed cooperation and coverage by Polish national television that will produce good quality broadcast and also provide the signal for free for other TV stations, including ones associated with European Broadcasting Union.

We are willing to walk the extra mile to ensure that the topic is interesting to international games media, as well as CEEGA, nominees, and awardees. We have secured the budget for PR agencies to help with visibility. The game journalists in the Jury should help with that too. We are discussing more ideas.
