The world-famous Japanese video game developer and publisher TAITO Corporation today announced with great thrill and pride that they have just released a major free update for their cute rhythm puzzle/action game “Touhou Spell Bubble” for the Nintendo Switch!

And not only that, TAITO has also just announced that “Touhou Spell Bubble” will be 50% off via the Nintendo Eshop until November 24th (2021).

About the update
The update adds highly requested online functionality and two new game modes with all-new features. In Ranked Match mode, climb the global rankings by earning rank points through victory in online battles with players from all around the world.

Private Match mode allows players to practice online with friends to hone their skills without risk of losing rank points. Ranked Match Records allow players to view various play statistics and Titles to show off their skills to other players. In addition, two types of leaderboards have been added to Challenge Mode.

About TouHou Spell Bubble:
Touhou Spell Bubble mixes Puzzle Bobble’s iconic game design with the much-loved Touhou Project’s world and characters and adds a rhythmic element to the game play, enhanced by a lineup of 40 voice actors and illustrators. The game comes with 50 music tracks, including 12 exclusive songs, and over 100 tracks currently available via DLC.

Story
In the land known as Gensokyo, where humans live together with creatures from Japanese folklore sealed away from the outside world, a new form of entertainment has taken root. Coloured balls, infused with magic, are projected at each other and vanish when their colours match. The game is Spell Bubble, and its popularity has grown until to the point where a grand tournament is due to be held, but all is not as it seems and it’s down to Reimu to investigate!

Challenge Mode – Battle against a series of characters of designated difficulty and A faithful port of the classic Bubble Bobble for 1-2 players, with scanlines and screen ratio options for a truly authentic arcade experience.
