Press release:
Today, Apogee Entertainment and developer Fuzzy Socks Studios announced that Rising Heat, the physics-driven horde survival bullet-hell roguelike, will now commence its launch in late Q1 2026 via Steam. The team is taking additional time to sharpen the game’s fast, momentum-driven combat and ensure every run delivers the relentless twin-stick action fans expect. Additional exciting announcements about Rising Heat will be shared early next year.
About Rising Heat
Rising Heat is a physics-driven horde survival shooter where movement is your firepower. Pilot high-speed aircraft through alien swarms, using momentum to slam, sweep, and carve through enemies. Build custom ships, fuse upgrades into deadly combo builds, and battle solo or in co-op, where a shared energy beam can be a clutch save — or total chaos without coordination.
Plow Through the Enemy: Master a momentum-based movement system and slam through enemy lines with precise, high-speed tackles. Bounce between targets, break formations, and tear through oncoming fire with pure force.
Assemble Your Way to Victory: A small cockpit inventory means every choice counts. Fuse hacks, stack upgrades, and place each tool with intention. Smart shopping decisions, clever hack positioning, and even taking calculated risks can unlock game-changing builds.
Prepare for the Invasion: Pick the right pilot, ship, weapons, and hacks before you launch. Alien forces adapt to your choices, so success belongs to players who plan ahead and stay unpredictable.
Allies or Dead Weight: Team up in local or Steam Remote Play co-op. Two pilots share a powerful beam that rewards good coordination. Work together to wipe out the swarm, or break formation and ruin your partner’s run.

About Apogee Entertainment
Apogee Software’s pioneering journey began in 1987, when Scott Miller decided to split his new game, Kingdom of Kroz, into three episodes, with the first episode available as free shareware. The “Apogee model” of distribution revolutionized PC gaming at the time and catapulted Apogee Software to global renown.
As an indie publisher, Apogee (and it’s later incarnation, 3D Realms) would introduce the world to id Software, Remedy Entertainment, Parallax Software, and other video game superstars in the making.
As a developer, Apogee would innovate and inspire in equal measure, creating treasured characters and franchises like Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, and Prey en route to earning over a billion dollars in commercial revenue.
The new Apogee Entertainment, with founder Scott Miller and longtime partner Terry Nagy at the helm, will empower today’s incredibly talented indie developers, paving the way for their global success with innovative ideas, cutting-edge marketing, and the same fearlessness that changed the industry.
