Montreal — September 18, 2026 — Canadian indie developer Athelan Games has announced that Athelan Battlegrounds, its turn-based tactical PvP game built around competitive skill and strategic freedom, will launch on PC and Google Play on November 25, 2026.

Developed by a two-person team, Athelan Battlegrounds puts players in control of intergalactic champions battling in a variety of arenas, where every decision can determine the outcome of a match. The game is designed around the idea that competitive play should come down to strategy and execution rather than progression advantages, with no Pay-to-Win mechanics and no traditional meta progression.

Players build their own teams from a roster of champions, each bringing different abilities and tactical possibilities to the battlefield. Matches take place across a board where positioning, team composition and carefully timed abilities all play a role. The game is designed to be easy to pick up while offering enough depth for players to spend considerable time refining their strategies, with players able to compete in 5v5 and 10v10 PvP Battles at launch.

Athelan Games describes the project as a collaborative experience built with its players, with the goal of creating a competitive environment that remains fair while giving players plenty of room to experiment. With this in mind the team has already started hosting tournaments allowing players to face each other to find out who truly reigns supreme on the battleground.
