The Poland-based indie games developer Monster Couch and Stonemaier Games today announced with great thrill and joy that they are soon going to release the “Oceania Expansion” DLC for their relaxing bird-themed card-based strategy game “Wingspan” (the “Oceania Expansion” DLC will be released for PC, mobile, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch).

Embark on a journey through the breathtaking lands of Oceania in the adaptation of the award-winning Wingspan: Oceania Expansion. Learn about birds from around Australia and New Zealand and all-new resources and mechanics that will enrich your wildlife preserve adventure.

Wingspan is a relaxing, award-winning strategy card game about birds for 1 to 5 players. In this exciting adventure, become the keeper of a nature reserve, a shelter for many bird species. Every bird you play can build a chain of powerful combinations in one of three habitats – forest, wetland, and grassland. Each habitat focuses on a key aspect of growing your reserve.

Attract nearly 100 new birds to your wildlife preserve

Birds from the Oceania region await you in the second expansion to Wingspan. Learn more about them with interesting facts written on cards and real recordings of the sounds they make. Many of them have brand new skills, including a yellow ‘end game’ ability that activates when the game is over.

Feed your birds with new food – nectar

The digital version of Wingspan has never been better! A new food type – nectar – will appear in your inventory. It is an essential ingredient in the nutrition of Oceanic birds. It’s also an excellent substitute for other types of bird food from different parts of the world. Employ it in your strategy and, at the end of the game, count how much you spent – you’ll receive two points for every nectar used!

Take on new challenges

Along with new bird abilities, Oceania Expansion offers new bonus cards and end-of-round goals. Now you have to pay attention to more details – not only to the sets of birds and nests and their wingspan, but also the direction your bird’s beak is facing on the card. There may also encounter a round with no end goal. All these challenges and many more will add variety to your subsequent games.

New alternative player board

The player board now has a new design with additional functionalities. On it you will find not only a place for your nectar, but also options to reset the bird feeder and card tray. The board also enables you to get more food and cards quicker than before, while laying eggs is reduced. All these changes diversify the dynamics of the game.

In Wingspan: Oceania Expansion, the developers continue to expand the game with new tracks composed by Paweł Górniak. Let yourself be carried away by a soothing soundtrack that will make the game even more enjoyable.

New backgrounds and portraits inspired by Oceania

The beauty and diversity of Oceania have also inspired developers to create picturesque backgrounds to play games against and portraits that relate to the local fauna. Choose your favorite graphic and get closer to the nature of the continent.

With Wingspan: Oceania Expansion, you don’t lose any of the features available in the basic version of the game, regardless of whether you also own the European Expansion. Play with friends in cross-platform multiplayer mode, test your skills in weekly challenges, and play against Automa – now with additional bonus cards and new end-of-round goals.

Wingspan was developed by Monster Couch and is now available on Steam, Nintendo eShop, AppStore, and Google Play. The launch date and price for the Oceania Expansion will be announced in the future.
