Press release:
Thursday, 20th June, 2024 (PRAGUE, Czech Republic).
The Prague-based (Czechia) indie games developer Bohemia Interactive (the creators of “Operation Flashpoint”, “Cold War Crisis”, and the “Arma” series) are today very happy and excited to announce that their adventure/exploration/strategy game “Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition“, is now available for the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo Eshop for $24.99 USD/€24.99 EUR.

“Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition”  is the ultimate creative open-world adventure game offering players the opportunity to craft, explore, fight and sail across multiple regions. Watch Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition’s launch trailer to see this unique exploration experience in action: https://youtu.be/58CNNGn49NE?feature=shared

On their own fully customizable ship, players will traverse six distinct regions, each filled with unique fauna, flora, and random encounters that keep the adventure fresh and exciting. Ylands empowers players to make use of thousands of items to craft and build with, progressing through a comprehensive tech tree that adds depth and variety to the gameplay. The game gently onboards players by recruiting them to the Classy Adventurers Guild, where they embark on an incredible journey, armed with their trusty handbook, and sail towards endless adventures.

Perhaps better known for their genre-defining hits Arma and DayZ, Bohemia Interactive has redeveloped Ylands to ensure players have a fantastic experience on Nintendo Switch; whether they are playing at home or on the go. Please see the full feature list below:

Play Ylands Offline For The First Time
Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition will be able to be played fully offline only, which is a first for this series. After download and initial launch, players don’t need an active internet connection to play the game. All player game worlds, creations and progress is stored locally which ensures smooth uninterrupted sailing, wherever they choose to play.

Buy Once, Play Forever
While Ylands on PC is a free-to-play title Bohemia Interactive has elected for a simpler pay upfront premium model for Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition. This, in combination with its offline nature, means there are no pay-to-progress mechanics, less of a need to grind in order to accumulate resources and no monetisation pushes. All planned updates for Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition will always be included for no additional cost with the option to purchase optional cosmetic DLC packages also supported.

Safe Single-Player For All Ages
Due to its offline structure, Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition is a 100% safe gaming environment for younger players with zero microtransaction prompts and no risk of negative interactions with other players. There is no gore or graphic violence in the game, which makes it a perfect experience for younger players.

Adventure and Creative Modes
Ylands: Nintendo Switch™ Edition is an experience that supports and encourages creative development and thinking at every stage. There are virtually unlimited building opportunities available to the player; both in the more story-centric Adventure mode and the sandbox-oriented Creative mode. If players don’t wish to create from the ground-up it will also be possible to purchase different types of buildings, ships and even pets via the Nintendo eShop.

About Ylands
Ylands is a low-poly adventure game focusing on exploration, building and fighting. Adventurers sail between ylands and regions to gather resources, craft tools, discover unexpected adventures and encounter a variety of wildlife while trying to survive the elements with friends or alone. They are led by the Adventurer’s Handbook which is given to all new members of the Classy Adventurers Guild.

About Bohemia Interactive
Our story began with our first game, Arma: Cold War Assault, released back in 2001. Developed by just a handful of people, this PC-exclusive title became a massive success. It sold well over a million copies, received numerous industry awards, and was praised by critics and players alike. Since then, we’ve grown from a ragtag bunch of garage devs to an international family of over 400 professionals – working on Arma Reforger, DayZ, Ylands, Vigor, the Enfusion engine, and various other projects. Our ambition: to make games that act as platforms for people to explore, create, and connect.
