I (Robin Ek TGG) have been waiting a very, VERY long time for Monolith’s old FPS game “Blood” to make a grand comeback worthy of the Gaming gods (either as a remake or as a brand-new game). However, that comeback is yet to happen. Even so, I still felt a bit hope when Stephen Kick (Night Dive Studios founder) told me that “Blood” is on Night Dive Studios wish list of games that they would like to remaster in the future (Kick informed me about that in our interview from April last year). Well, time will tell I guess. Nevertheless, I do indeed have positive news to share concerning the original “Blood” game (“Blood” was originally released back in 1997). You see, a viewer of ours (thanks Anežka a Jiřík!) informed us that M210 (Alexander Makarov) released BloodGDX v0.765 not so long ago.

So what exactly is BloodGDX then? Well, this is the actual description by M210 himself:

“BloodGDX – is more perspecive project then BloodCM. I started reverse-engeneering of original blood.exe, because I successfuly found main BuildEngine methods such as rotatesprite, drawsprites, drawrooms etc. In this way, I had got 50% of Blood source code and 20% of methods I found in alpha version source code (some methods are without changes). Also alpha source code helpt me with figuration of my decompiled code.My Blood port is based on Java’s libgdx framework and can reading all of original Blood maps and original Blood resources and playing as original Blood at this time (perhaps there is have a difference between Blood v1.21 and my port, because I working on decompilation of v1.00 (v1.00 is more readable after reverse-engeneering than v1.21). After my first release of BloodGDX I can start to fix graphics bugs, rewrite renderer and writing models/voxels and hires textures support.”Alexander “M210” Makarov

In other words, “BloodGDX” is a fanmade Windows (it works fine for me in Win 7) port that’s based on Java’s libgdx framework, which offers an even more awesome “Blood” experience. Simply put,  “BloodGDX” is a must play for fans of the original game =) And on a personal level, I really love what I’ve seen from the game so far (you can watch M210’s latest “BloodGDX” Youtube video down below). So if you like the sound of that, then you can download v0.765 of “BloodGDX” today! It’s also worth pointing out that OrdinaryFpsfan789 (a modder) is working on a unity engine remake of “Blood”. So don’t forget to check that one out as well =)
