Well, my Saturday sure started off in a very good fashion. Because not only did I (Robin Ek, TGG) just found out that there will be a “Total War: Warhammer 2“, but Mr. Mike Winterbauer (Winterbauer is very well-known for his classic game covers from the 80s and 90s) just reached out to us (TGG) per e-mail as well. So what did Winterbauer tell us? Well, he simply informed us that his Classic Game Covers campaign has been successfully funded on Kickstarter (the 4,800 USD goal was reached just recently, and right now the campaign is pushing beyond 5,700 USD):
“Classic Game Covers is 100% funded on Kickstarter! Great art book about the Classic Covers I painted, covers have included Wing Commander, Solstice, Powerblade, Might and Magic and many others.” – Mike Winterbauer
That’s great news with no doubt, but what exactly is the classic game covers book then? Well, this is the actual description of the book by Winterbauer himself:
“The goal of this campaign is to raise $4,800 for a print run of my super cool, unique book “Classic Game Covers, Confessions of An Art Junkie” and get it to people who will enjoy it! This is the second campaign for Classic Game Covers as the first one came up short of the funding goal. I have lowered the goal and all offerings, including my painting offers substantially! Be sure to check out all the cool new offerings which include a special package for my awesome Wing Commander fans. I have also included many super nice signed prints and printed material as part of the new offers. Scroll down to check out more info and pictures of the new offers! We will succeed in getting this cool book printed with your help!” – Mike Winterbauer
So there you have it folks =) In other words, if you enjoy Winterbauer’s art. Then you got something to celebrate today. Furthermore, I take it that we’re going to see some extended goals and extra eye candy for the backers of the book? Because there is about 17 days left on the classic game covers Kickstarter campaign. Well, time will tell. I guess that we will have to wait until July to find out, because that’s when Winterbauer aims to launch his classic game covers book.
