I have seen quite a few Arcade machines over the years (like the really cool “Mortal Kombat X” arcade machine, for example). Even so, I got really impressed by Turnarcades full size NES arcade machine (as seen in the picture further down the page). In the matter of fact, I haven´t seen anything quite like it before. And this is what Turnarcades had to say about the NES arcade machine (aka the “NEScade”):

“So, after a long period of refinement and delays, we are proud to present Turnarcades’ latest completed prototype – the ‘Barrelcade’! This machine is a fully working cocktail-style arcade machine that has been created by modifying an original 1″ thick oak brandy barrel with a 19” LCD screen, full JAMMA wiring loom, speakers and two comfortably integrated control panels with the very best Sanwa and Happ joysticks and buttons.

This is all finished off with custom modified Donkey Kong arcade artwork theme, red LED floor glow and a super-tough 10mm tempered top glass to sit a cool beer on, courtesy of the fully-integrated mini-fridge – capable of keeping 4 pint cans of your favourite bevvy cold for hours while you game away! Due to interest around this project, we have decided to add it to our range as an official Turnarcades model, and we are now able to take customer orders to replicate this machine. The machine is priced at just £800 for one just like it, including full artwork, 19″ screen and a 60-in-1 classic arcade game PCB. For home users, we can create door access and either a mini-fridge or bottle shelving inside for £50, or if you own a bar or shop and want a quirky fun arcade machine that doesn’t lose you any seating or table space and can generate a little extra income, you can have it coin-operated for £80 extra!” – Turnarcades Custom Arcade Machines

The Machine is called the “NEScade”.

Turnarcades also added the following comment via Facebook:

“After 6 months long months of refinement, Turnarcades are pleased to announce the one and only ‘NEScade’ is now complete! With a busy schedule it’s taken months of part-time construction, touching up and tweaking, but has turned out as well as our expectations. The idea was conceived a few years ago and finally just randomly started one cold night in Winter. The design is essentially 5:1 scaled up NES cartridge with very similar shell detailing, inserted into a sturdy Nintendo-coloured base and with some minor roportion changes for practicality reasons. The cartridge section is finished in a unique waxy paint blend very close to the grey cartridge colour, with a 15” LCD screen and Nintendo-style NEScade backlit marquee integrated into the faithful ‘cartridge label’ area complete with end-label and seal of quality!

Behind the games themselves is a simple Pentium 3 PC, crisp sounding speakers and all ventilated with a red backlit mushroom-shaped vent on the rear door. The custom Turnarcades front-end system drives a huge library of NES and Gameboy games. Control comes courtesy of a full set of commercial-quality Sanwa/Seimitsu/Happ arcade sticks and buttons in proper Nintendo colours, set into the iconic NES joypad-inspired control panel with comfortable plexi overlay – all finished in Nintendo white paint and red T-moulding. This awesome one-of-a-kind show-piece is one of our most outlandish designs and has been built purely as an event attraction to demonstrate our custom build capabilities. It will get it’s first outing at REVIVAL Solstice 2016 on the 30-31 July, so hopefully a lot of people will get to enjoy playing it!”

That´s really awesome indeed. Sadly enough though, the NEScade seems to be a “one-of-a-kind” creation. In other words, it was made to show what the Turnarcades team is capable of doing. Thus, the NEScase is most likely not going to be a mass-produced kind of Arcade machine. However, one is allowed to daydream right? 😉 Besides, Turnarcades “might” change their minds about the NEScade if there is enough demand for them to create more NEScade units. Well, time will tell. Nevertheless, the NEScade is a really neat and impressing Arcade machine for sure.
