“Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator” could be regarded as a sort of sequel to DEVGU-P’s “Panzermadels: Tank Dating Simulator“. You see, in both games you start dating military hardware (of the anthropomorphized feminine sort) and go out on crazy adventures.

Kiowa Oh58 is your “childhood” friend, and what a “friend” she is, because she just happens to be a helicopter.
Even so, “Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator” has had a lot more thought (and graphics) put into it though. For example, when you meet brand-new helicopters the game activates a quick overview of your new friend, with the occasional funny quip by your character, after which the story progresses.

In “Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator” new characters are introduced by revealing technical details about them.
As per Panzermadels, you are (again) at war, although unlike the aforementioned visual novel, this time it’s against countries hoarding oil – and for looking different. As per DEVGRU-P stories, irony and sardonicism are abound. In other words, expect to see many jokes against all types of helicopters, visual novel writers, war and oil.
You start off by self-identifying your gender, which is quite amusing in itself, after which you start your new academic life. Anyways, you play as a newly arrived helicopter at Base 732 Airstrike Academy near some enemy border, you have to traverse school (and dating) life as carefully as possible – preferably without getting killed.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. It is still very readable though.
Being nice to your fellow students increases your affinity with them (which is a step-up from Panzermadels, which is just route based), which should help you win over their engines and lower their defences, which in turn leads to a successful group mission…

You got quite a few different choices to pick from in Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator”. So that means that you will have to make a handful of different choices throughout the game.
Conversely, you can choose options that will sever your friendship with a helicopter as well. As per usual, there are also occasions where difficult decisions need to be made. Especially, as you know that anything you chose will lower your affection to whoever you didn’t chose. Affinity points are used at the end to determine the choice of who you go with on your final mission…At which point the game ends on a cliff-hanger..

There are some interesting references to “Girls und Panzer” to be found in “Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator”. I also love the fact that you can go out on a mission with each girl if you just ask them (ask an adult helicopter how that works).
The amount of characters in the game is a far step-up from both “Stay! Stay! “And “Panzermadels”. Other than that, there are the usual tropes of course, which perfectly suit the game: The helicopter that’s bullied by her brother; the misunderstood one and of course, the one obsessed with destroying everything in sight, but can’t aim straight.

“Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator” offers a truly fun story, a wide character gallery and some really nice graphics. However, on the down side of things. There’s a handful of spelling and grammatical errors to be found in the game…
Furthermore, later on there some very quick mini games involving spin-the-bottle and paper-scissors-rock, along with an interesting nod to Girls und Panzer too. So If you like self-depreciating, funny visual novels, that don’t take themselves (or their subjects) seriously. Then you will enjoy “Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator” for sure.
Pros:
+ Very funny story
+ Interesting reference to Girls und Panzer
+ Quite a large cast of characters/helicopters with interesting information about each of them in cutaway scenes
+ Can go on “missions” with them (ask an adult helicopter how that works)
+ Graphics are nice, if not overly detailed
Cons:
– There are many spelling and grammatical mistakes to be found in the game
– Music during the non-informational sections could get a bit repetitive
– The game can end on a cliff-hanger
Gameplay: 3/5
Graphics: 3/5
Sound and music: 3/5
Controls: 4/5
Replay value: 4/5
Story: 4/5

Verdict: 4/5
If you can ignore the obvious spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, then “Attack Helicopter Dating Simulator” is a very funny visual novel that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. As the game has a constant stream of jokes at almost everyone’s expense. Furthermore, for once, you can make it to the end alive…
