For the last couple of days, I have been occupied with Landon Podbielski´s and Adult Swim Games crazy action/platform game “Duck Game” (which is like a mix of Super Smash Bros, Wario Ware and Towerfall, but with armed ducks). And it took me less than a couple of seconds before I started to think about games such as “Bonanza Bros,” “Duck Tales” and “Quack Attack.” However, Duck Game is the ultra violent edition of those games. As the game stars ducks who have a whole weapon arsenal of mass destruction at their disposal. And I’m talking about everything from AK 47´s, shotguns, magnum´s to miniguns (there is +50 weapons in the game in total). Yes, everything goes in Duck Game!

Each arcade machine contains three mini games, and there is quite a few arcade machines in the game.

And no matter if you play the single player mode or the Multiplayer mode, you will have blast with Duck Game. I´m going to give you an introduction of the single player mode first though. Sure, one might think that it would be boring to play a game such as Duke Game alone, but it´s not. And it´s thanks to all the different mini games and challenges that you can enjoy in the single player mode (every arcade machine in the game offers three different mini games each), and every mini game works as a time track kind of challenge as well (the better time and score you get, the better the price).

You can buy all sorts of things from the shop in Duck Game.

You can buy all sorts of items and upgrades from the shop in Duck Game.

And there’s over +50 levels to enjoy in Duck Game, so that should keep you going for quite a sometime (not to mention that you can also buy items and upgrades via the store in the game). You also have the ability to create your own levels via the built-in level editor (awesome indeed), as for the cons and down sides of the game. There isn´t all that many cons to be found in Duck Game. However, some of the flaws would be the fact that I found the controls to be somewhat stiff, and not everyone will enjoy the retro style graphics. Nevertheless, The advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

duck game online

There´s no doubt (whatsoever) that the online mode is the best part of Duck Game (Smash Bros meets Towerfall).

Besides, the multiplayer (2 to 4 players via LAN or online play) mode makes you forget about those things as well. As you will be busy having too much fun to bother about “little” details such as that. So in my eyes Duck Game is a winner with no doubts!

Pros:
+ Epic soundtrack
+ Tons of weapons
+ Freaking awesome online mode
+ You can create your own levels
+ There is a lot of different mini games that you can enjoy

Cons:
– The controls are somewhat stiff
– You will either hate or love the retro graphics

tgg grade 4 out of 5

Verdict: 4/5
Duck Game is like the mutant hybrid duck child of Super Smash Bros, Wario Ware and Towerfall. It´s easy to learn, fun to play but really hard to master. Oh, did I mention that you got tons of weapons, a level editor, +50 levels and an online and singleplayer mode? Long story short. Don´t miss out on Duck Game people, or else you will regret it!
