In Toffer Team’s +18 erotic visual novel “Hikari! Clover Rescue” you play as the financially irresponsible, shallow (and rather perverted) Keigo. You are kidnapped by Kasumi to help bring down The Corporation by rescuing and having sex with various girls in order to active an amulet each of the girls is wearing. So far, so “Sacred Sword Princesses“.
Hikari! Clover Rescue’s backgrounds are nice (the same could also be said about the game’s babes) although the message box font clashes with some of them.
That fact might come as a big delight to many though. As the first sex scene comes along pretty quickly, mainly as an introduction to what you will be doing with the other girls and also to demonstrate the activation of the amulets (although it’s only described).
Hikari! Clover Rescue’s characters are nicely designed and have a handful of different expressions.
As per visual novels, there are choices to be made along the way, including ejaculation choices. No doubt later on, some of these will determine whether you live or die, which. So if you can fight your way through the story, then you’ll find out.
It sure doesn’t take long before you encounter the very first lewd scene in “Hikari! Clover Rescue”.
The story is more interesting, rather than exciting. I mean, it’s not particularly unique (as previously mentioned it’s similar to how The Beasts are defeated in Sacred Sword). It’s also rather dry and humourless with some pretty convoluted sentence structuring. Furthermore, sometimes it feels like you are deciphering an Enigma message – without the code book.
The art style and visuals are very nice I have to say. The same could also be said about the most of Hikari! Clover Rescue’s lewd content.
The characters themselves are okay, with Akane having an interesting back-story, but none of them are really interesting. The story is partially voiced – but only with a few sentences here and there, rather than everything, which is a bit disappointing.
You know, even though I’ve played quite a lot of lewd games in the past. I still have to say that I haven’t seen a “Cum in or cum out choice” feature in the game all that often. Well, that just happens to be the case with “Hikari! Clover Rescue”.
As standard with visual novels, moving forward with the story is just a mouse – or space – press away, and of course, you can also go backwards to re-read anything that was missed. You can, of course, save at any point too.
“Hikari! Clover Rescue” partially voiced in Japanese, and for most part the voice acting is pretty good.
One thing that is nice, is that you can also get the Android version. Presumably you would need to allow activation from unknown sources to be able to install it (Google, as you can imagine, wouldn’t allow the program, as is, on the Play Store). So if you are overly security concerned, then it would probably be best to stick to the PC version.
As much as I wish that “Hikari! Clover Rescue” would be a flawless game, it isn’t…For starter, the game is rather dry and humourless. Furthermore, the story is pretty derivative, and some of the game’s English are somewhat broken.
Anyways, all in all, “Hikari! Clover Rescue” tells a rather staid story. So if you can put up with the dodgy English, you might actually find the game to be quite enjoyable. It’s also worth pointing out that “Hikari! Clover Rescue” is a rather cheap visual novel title, as you could pick it up for less than six Euros at the moment.

“Hikari! Clover Rescue” is a rather dry, humourless, derivative, partially voice story, with dodgy English, offset by nice character designs and backgrounds. However, if you can get past all that, then you may enjoy it. One thing it certainly does have going for it, is the price – and it comes with the Android version too.
