It´s been quite a while since i took interest in a puzzle/platformer. But when i saw 1337 and Senri LLC´s iOS game “Leo’s Fortune”. I really feelt this big urge to give it a go.

Mainly because of three things. 1. The graphics made my think about Rayman (the graphics looks great!). 2. Leo (the furry boll that just happens to be the maincharacter of the game) are a very cute and cool character.

And 3. You collect gold coins. Which of course reminded me of Scrooge McDuck from “Duck Tales”.

leos fortune gold hunting

The main goal of Leo´s Fortune is to collect gold coins. But also to finish each stage as fast as possible. And if you die just once (while doing so). Then you won´t get a full score.

And the gold coins plays a really big role in Leo’s Fortune. Because someone has stolen all of Leo´s riches. So you have to take it all back. Coin for coin. But that´s of course easier said than done. Sure, things start of rather easy.

But the difficulty level gets higher quite fast. And the thing is this. By the end of each stage you get a grade based on your performance. And the three stars grade would be the highest grade you can get. And each star are based on things such as “speedrun”, “did you get all the coins?” and “did you make it through the level without dieing one single time?”.

And the part concerig the speedrun thing. That gave me a Gran Turismo flashback. Because i always used to chase the best track times. And at times Leo´s Fortune “almost” feels like a racing game. Because even though Leo doesn’t look like much,

His like a super hairy version of Sonic. Yes, his fast as hell! So yeah, i have had a blast with Leo´s Fortune. And there’s not that many things to complain about really. The only thing that i noticed on my iPhone , was the controls can get stuck sometimes.

And sure, the soundtrack could have been a “bit” better. Leo´s Fortune are still a great game despite those things though.

Pros:
+ Beautiful graphics
+ Nice plot
+ Leo are a very lovable character
+ Tons of gameplay value for your money

Cons:
– The controls can get stuck sometimes
– Some areas of the game will drive you insane (the difficulty level)

Verdict: 4/5
Leo’s Fortune are a really nice mix of puzzle and platform elements. And it will keep you occupied for quite sometime. In short, it´s a great game. And you really get value for your money!
