Well, isn´t faith funny sometimes? Because not so long ago Games Republic reached out to us and asked me (Robin Ek) if TGG would be interested in creating a shop via their service. Well, to make a long story short. I was just about to create a TGG shop via Games Republic, but when I was about to do that I was informed per mail by Lukasz Kukawski (Head of PR & Marketing Games Republic) that Games Republic is shutting down its services by the end of the year:
“Hi Robin,
I’m reaching out to you today with important news regarding Games Republic.
On Thursday, December 8, it was decided by Games Republic management and 11 bit studios board to shut down GamesRepublic.com with the end of the year. Today we’ll be disabling the possibility to purchase games in our store. Users will be able log in to their accounts to download their games and activation codes till the end of January, and will be informed about this in a special message.
On behalf of the entire Games Republic Team I’d like to thank you very much for all your support. It was great building Games Republic together. I wish you all the best, and hope we’ll have a chance to work again in the future.
If you have any questions or concerns, please drop me a message.” – Lukasz Kukawski, Head of PR & Marketing Games Republic
I don´t know what to say really, because I thought that Games Republic seemed to be a rather good service. Oh well, at least I didn´t waste anytime on setting up a Games Republic shop…
