I (Robin Ek, TGG) had a feeling that something would happen in the case with Jed Whitaker (Destructoid writer) and William Hicks (Heat Street writer), because Heat Street published a post about Jed Whitaker and his Nazi rants about JonTron not so long ago (the post was published on the 31st of January). Well, I was right. You see, just the other day William Hicks tweeted out that Whitaker did a DMCA take down of Hicks Youtube video (as seen in the picture down below), and it appears as if Whitaker did so because Hicks used some pictures of Whitaker which Whitaker didn´t like (thus Whitaker´s DMCA claim on the video, so it didn´t matter that Hicks simply tried to prove his points by using Whitaker´s own tweets against him).

I´m quite sure that Jed Whitaker will go after that video as well…

Personally, I find this to be rather bizarre, especially since Whitaker stated not so long ago that JonTron was a full-blown Nazi just because he wore an SS uniform once (JonTron used that uniform very briefly in his “JonTron’s StarCade: Episode 8 – Everything Else!” video), and because Jon dropped a lot of red pills during his live stream talk with Sargon of Akkad and Motte & Bailey (“JonTron on SJWs – Sargon and JonTron on SJWs in Gaming, Politics and Content Creation Post-Gamergate“). Well, I don´t know about you, but that is some crazy mental gymnastics, SJW madness and snowflake Olympics craziness right there (I guess that´s why people joke about Whitaker being Chris-Chan´s long lost brother…).

Yes, you guessed it. Jed has blocked us (TGG) on Twitter.

Furthermore, let´s not forget that Jed Whitaker is the same person who wrote the “Gaming needs more safe spaces” post over at Destructoid (which he did back in December, 2015), nor the fact that Whitaker is a censorship apologist and a big hypocrite. Simply put, the said DMCA take down of William Hicks video was bound to happen. As Whitaker is pretty well-known for not being able to handle criticism and critics all that well (when you run your mouth as much as Whitaker does, then you must be able to handle the heat that follows with it). I find that to be rather funny though, as Whitaker had no problems (whatsoever) with ranting about JonTron being a Nazi on Twitter for hours (I will cover that matter myself in an upcoming JonTron post that I´ve been working on for quite some time now).

No, we don´t need “safe spaces” in the world of Gaming. People simply need to stop being offended and oversensitive about everything and nothing.

It´s also worth pointing out that Whitaker managed to pull of some truly hardcore mental gymnastics during E3 last year (not to mention the fact that he has a record over at Deepfreeze as well). So what did he do? Well, he more or less tried to connect the violent games at display at E3 2016 to the Orlando shootings (no violent games, less shootings/gun violence yay! – Jed Whitaker tries logical thinking). In other words, Whitaker is the kind of person who loves to rant and give criticism to others, but he can´t stand any of that when it´s aimed towards him (all of this actually made me think about “Safe Space” episode from South Park).

Jed made a connection between the violent games at E3 2016 and the Orlando shootings last year…

It´s a good thing that people archive as much stuff as possible, because then it´s really hard for people to hide stuff from the public eye.

That´s also why I think that it´s going to be really interesting to see whether or not Whitaker will continue to do DMCA take downs on Youtube videos that clearly fall under the fair-use act (like in the case with Will Hicks video for Heat Street). Because from my point of view, his actions only make him look like a total douchebag and a huge hypocrite (don´t take a swing at others if you can´t take a punch or two back). Then again, Whitaker has been like this for years, so I hardly doubt that he will change his ways any time soon.
