Even though it´s not quite Christmas yet, I (and many others) received a very pleasant Christmas gift in advance last night. Well, if you have no idea what I´m talking about, then I´m very happy to inform you that Disney will reboot DuckTales next year! (the new series will kick-off via Disney XD sometime during the summer of 2017):
“Top-billed actors will bring the beloved characters of McDuck Manor to life in the all-new animated comedy series “DuckTales,” premiering in summer 2017 on Disney XD channels around the world. Leading the quack pack on globe-trotting adventures are: David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan as the voices of mischief-making Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively, Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack.” – Disney XD
On a personal level I became like a little kid all over again when I found out about this, because I watched the TV-series with great joy when I was a child. In the matter of fact, I also used to record the episodes on our family VCR (tape recorder). Furthermore, I even used to collect the comic series as well (I still got them. I’m just not quite sure where I have placed them). So, yeah, I think it´s safe to say that I was a hardcore dedicated DuckTales fan as a kid (only Transformers and TMNT played in the same division as DuckTales, well, at least in my book). However, I still think to this very day that it was the DuckTales game for the NES that topped everything else. Because the game version gave you the chance to live the dream of heading out on adventures with the DuckTales crew.
And my DuckTales dreams didn´t stop with DuckTales for the NES either, because when DuckTales 2 launched for the NES and Gameboy (which it did back in 1993). I (and others) got to experience a brand-new DuckTales game full of adventures and joy once again. In other words, I got to relive everything that I loved with the first game. It´s also worth mentioning that the soundtracks for “DuckTales” and “DuckTales 2” have kept both the games and the DuckTales IP alive over the years with no doubt. Because once the songs ended up on the Internet, old fans felt in love with DuckTales all over again (I bet that DuckTales gained quite a lot of new fans as well).
So I´m quite sure that thanks to the super dedicated and loyal DuckTales fans (whom have supported the IP since for decades), we got to see Capcom and WayForward Technologies “DuckTales Remastered” game happen, and I´m really glad that the game got to see the day of light. As I found it to be just as great as the original games (it´s even better in some aspects). That´s also why I´m super excited for the 2017 reboot of Ducktales, because “if” the series becomes a huge success (which I bet that it will). Then “maybe” we will see a new Ducktales game as well? (I hope that WayForward Technologies will handle that one).
Well, time will tell. Nevertheless, I´m still very pleased with the news that the DuckTales cartoon series will return to the TV-screens (which it will next summer). I´m also pretty happy with the voice actors whom Disney has picked for the reboot of the series (you can see the full list down below). So I can´t wait to watch the very first episode of the brand-new series =) Sadly enough though, I will have to wait until next summer…Oh well, I could always start to rewatch the old episodes while waiting for the new ones.
