The 16-bit JRPG puzzle/adventure game "Flowstone Saga" has just landed on Kickstarter

The US-based indie games publisher and game developer Impact Gameworks (the makers of “Tangledeep“) are today super excited and happy to announce the launch of the Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming 16-bit JRPG inspired puzzle/adventure game “Flowstone Saga”.

“”Flowstone Saga” is inspired by classic 16-bit JRPGs and features a grand story, gorgeous pixel art, charming characters, sweeping music, and a totally unique puzzle-based battle system.

Much like our first title “Tangledeep” (PC, Switch), which has sold over 100,000 units to date, Flowstone Saga should appeal to fans of SNES & PlayStation-era RPGs. But unlike our first game’s roguelike elements, Flowstone Saga is a story-driven journey handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail.

With 3 years of development behind us already, we’re raising money to continuing polishing & improving the game with more art, animation, music, and features, with a target release in Summer 2022 for PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch.

Note: This project is a continuation of last year’s “Puzzle Explorers” title. Based on player feedback, we paused our previous campaign to rebrand and rework the game to focus more heavily on and improve the RPG mechanics!

About Flowstone Saga
In the sleepy backwaters of Ocean’s End, a young adventurer and her stalwart pet Sprig stumble on an ancient power hidden beneath long-forgotten ruins. With it, Mirai can harness the power to repair, build, and… fight.

A grand story will unfold: Mirai will use these new powers to help build her home of New Riverstone, face growing threats like the Scarlet Tusk Pirates, hunt for treasure across mountains, forests, temples, and ruins, and forge new friendships with people (and animals) across the world. Perhaps, the secrets of her past will finally be revealed as well…

Flowstone Saga is a 16-bit RPG adventure inspired by the classic JRPG tradition. With a grand story, gorgeous pixel art, charming characters, and a sweeping soundtrack, fans of classic SNES & PlayStation RPGs will be right at home.

It features a truly unique puzzle-based battle system, where you fight monsters, cast spells, and defend against attacks using a falling block puzzle board. But while players can execute powerful attacks and combos, monsters have their own array of clever puzzle attacks that ensure no two encounters are ever the same.

As the story progresses, players will meet an array of colorful characters, help build the town of New Riverstone, explore meticulously handcrafted maps and dungeons, and customize their party with gear and skills.

Flowstone Saga is developed by Impact Gameworks, an indie studio founded in 2016 and based in Maryland. Their debut title, a traditional roguelike dungeon crawler called Tangledeep, has reached 100,000 sales across all platforms. Development on this new title started in 2018, and it is planned to launch on PC and Switch in 2022.

With multiple difficulty and speed options, Flowstone Saga can be played with more focus on the story, or with intense, challenging encounters – or both!
