Way back in February this year, I wrote an article about Koei Tecmo´s upcoming survival horror game “Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water” for the Wii U. And back then, I was “somewhat” concerned with how the female’s characters were portrayed in Fatal Frame V (I´m not a fan of the Lolita theme). And since February more and more erotic pictures and movies have been released of “Maiden of Black Water”. Personally, I have no problem with nudity, erotic or sex in games. But it all depends on how well (or bad) the content is presented in the game in question, and is it justified? I can only speak for myself of course, but I think that developers should be able to create whatever they want (within reasonable limits, no child porn, for example). And Gamers should be able to buy and enjoy whatever games they want (without censorship).
Anyhow, I´m simply saying that I´m not a huge fan of games, which allows you to play around with young girls like sex toys (dress em, undress em, and peek on them like a pervert), in my opinion “Maiden of Black Water” looks like a “fap simulator” to me. But hey, I could be wrong? And who knows, the gameplay might actually be bloody brilliant? And if it´s not mandatory to be a creepy pervert throughout the game, then I “might” enjoy the game as well. Speaking of which, less than 24 hours ago Nintendo Europe announced alternative costumes for Miu and Yuri (which would be two of the playable characters in “Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water”).
And yes, you guess it. It´s Princess Zelda´s dress and Samus Aran´s Zero Suit outfit (both of which will be released on Nintendo´s Eshop on the 30th of October, and so will the actual game as well). And even though what I wrote earlier (regarding “Maiden of Black Water´s” erotic Lolita theme of the game), I actually liked these costumes. At least, they feel a lot classier than most of the other outfits that I´ve seen in “Fatal Frame V” so far (and I´m a HUGE fan of Zelda and the Metroid series).
However, ever since “Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water” became known to the public, “Maiden of Black Water” has been labeled as a sexist game by the media. So I hardly doubt that Miu and Yuri´s alternative costumes will change that image all that much. Nevertheless, as I stated earlier, I´m going to give the game a fair chance. And “if” you´re not forced to be a creepy pervert in the game, then my whole perspective of the game will change for sure.
With that said, what do you guys think about alternative costumes for Miu and Yuri and “Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water” so far? And do you think that the game is sexist?
