Video games, their sales, and creation have begun to descend into an unparalleled sense of controversy in the last two years. Initially when we looked at the industry prior to 2013, and we were looking forward to the brand-new consoles, new games, and Pewdiepie were still just chilling with bros. Once we hit 2013 and Grand Theft Auto V was announced officially it marked the beginning of one of the greatest entries into our generation of gamers. Unfortunately, our youth was running out with this, and the introduction of what would be known as Gamergate.
Media outlets and journalistic entities online had begun to sell their honeyed sense of endearments to the highest bidder while selling their souls for awards, money and even promotions. Young aspiring journalists were checked at the door and told early that they had to play the game in order to get ahead and be known. What was more disturbing was how quickly so many of these same journalists became sheep and decided that an easy payday and lackluster workload were worth their integrity and sense of self-respect.
With the introduction of 2014 and the Zoe Post, Gamergate was brought into the light and cast a bat-signal onto the unknown world of games journalism that we trusted. The same people who “played games for our benefit,” were now known to be in league with one another. They created email lists, shared sources and even compared dribble to generate clicks for their bosses’ bank accounts. When we stood up and said enough is enough, they had the audacity to tell us that WE had lost our minds, and forgot who was in command. Them. However, that quickly changed, and isn’t going to revert itself, ever.
I’ve compiled five of the top reasons Gamergate is going to overthrow the matriarchal influences that are trying to pressure consumers into becoming sheep. And we’ll look into just why the wolves in said consumer’s hearts are beginning to howl and bite back.
#5 – Feminists use Gamergate as a crutch to generate income.
If you haven’t realized it, every bit of controversy that surrounds Gamergate comes from one trend that’s been hitting the media airwaves since the 1970s: feminism. Defined as a range of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment (a feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women).
While equality should be the main goal of anyone who believes in such things, it’s not the goal of Radical 3rd wave feminism. These feminists saw one thing in their way of money and absolution—men who weren’t sharing the money they earned from video games. This created the myth of the “Boys club,” which can be attributed to jealousy and spite of their talents.
Once they realized that they were being left out of an alleged “male dominated industry,” they began to knock down doors for what they believed was due to them. Yes, money, and inclusion on what’s not theirs. While the demand for more inclusive character models and diversity isn’t unrealistic, it should be noted almost 90% of the protesters don’t utilize the same in their games or studios themselves.
What’s more, they’have begun to assimilate themselves with the same games that they protest, by reviewing and critiquing them in less controversial ways as of late to generate clicks for their sites. This has come about due to their tie to other sites such as Polygon, Kotaku, VG24/7, and IGN. While playing these new games and giving reviews, their work is promoted on said sites or shared on social media and promoted by their supporters who don’t know the difference. Anita Sarkeesian, and Brianna Wu have begun to do this with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Metal Gear Solid 5.
#4 – The lies of Cyber harassment is promoted and encouraged as gospel
The biggest problem that Gamergate is fighting isn’t just from within, it’s from the same people who claim that they aren’t causing the problem. As many of Gamergate’s critics ( (including the heads of their own studios, feminist coders, and even feminist critics) have painted a very obscure picture of the consumer revolt. They have, in fact, encouraged violence, suicide, and doxing of people who stand against them and disagree with them. Don’t believe me? Look at Internet Aristocrat and Mundane Matt’s videos on YouTube.
It doesn’t end there folks. If you take a trip to social media and type in their names, you’ll gain access to their feeds. Regardless of a blocking tool, created by these feminist coders, you can see for yourself the horror and truth that they don’t care about ethics beyond monetary gain and fame. “What can you do for me?” Is their motto, and it only ends when their hands receive a dollar? No, we can’t back something like this in our culture. The killing blow of the situation comes from the recent UN and Google Ideas fallout with Gamergate.
At this summit, a report was presented that according to the hosts, wasn’t read prior to that day, didn’t back the total beliefs they were there to represent, and it wasn’t ethical. Anyone hearing this come from someone who read it aloud would have a serious question in mind: “You just read anything someone gives you don’t you?” The answer: If money is involved, yes. Now you might wonder “Why did he say this?” Well, if you continue to read the rest of my article, you will find the answer to that very question.

#GamerGate has more lives than a cat, as GG has been declared dead over and over again since the summer of 2014.
#3 – Gamergate is a one-sided debate and it’s not going to change without you
Milo Yiannopoulos of Briebart has been very vocal in his disdain for the creation of the false narratives the media has begun to spin in an effort to discredit the detractors of Gamergate supporters. Law & Order created an episode based on #GamerGate to prove something serious: Gamergate is seen as a joke to the media, and it’s the easiest rating’s bait besides the Kardashian family. You could open, close or insert Gamergate at 10pm on any news outlet and say it’s connected to a murder—and people would believe it.
Gamergate has become a joke unto itself simply for the reason no media outlet will allow a live debate due to their ties with feminist influences in politics and media circles. Crossing the wrong person can end careers in outlets, and we’ve seen it happen in more than one way since Gamergate has begun. ABC aired a special with Anita Sarkeesian (it´s called “What it feels like to be a Gamergate target“).
In it, Anita was seen abusing and wasting taxpayer money on police escorts, trivial pursuit of her critics, and seemed upset about people having an issue with her business tactics. So what would be the other side of this? Well, such a side doesn’t exist since the media doesn’t care about a male’s privilege or opinion compared to hers.
#2 – Pick the battles that can be easily paid
If you have followed what I’ve been saying you’ll understand that the critics of Gamergate aren’t interested in hearing the other side. What they want is the regulation of games, the Internet and an overall PC way of doing things. The communications commissioners, want the Internet regulated and policed so they can spread it globally.
This gives them a bigger piece of the pie to control educational programs, Internet media, and even creating a PC (“Political correct”) way of enforcing it. This means that they (SJWs, PC Bros and radical feminists) can control what’s shown on cover art, what´s created for games and much more! They will also be able to add their agenda and opinion of dialogue, which are to be included in the final production of the project in question (no matter if it´s games, educational programs, Internet media or whatever), and get paid for it all.
Sledgehammer games, Activision, Bungie, and Square Enix has all started to cave in and hand over money for “consultations.” Anita Sarkeesian is beginning to lose the money she sought for Feminist Frequency and has been reduced to selling T-shirts on her site to raise capital, for some reason.
The thought process here is if you don’t toe the line, you’ll be erased, attacked online, blocked, and silently erased from the industry due to their connections. Remember what happened when Oprah spoke negatively about the beef industry? (yeah, just like that). What can you do? Don’t play their game. So if someone is harassing you online. Then simply block and report them no matter who they are (they use that kind of tactics themselves. However, they over abuse it into Oblivion).

Marcedes Carrera knows how to speak for herself, and she has made some really good points about #GamerGate in the past.
#1 – What will happen to Gamergate
Gamergate will never die. It lives on in the hearts and minds of you and I (the consumer). We control the money. The truth is, feminists can control media. They can have friends in Twitter and Facebook that guarantee they’ll never see consequences for inciting harassment. However, what they’ll never have is you as a slave if you don’t let them. You can see how corruption ends, look at Batman Begins with Carmine Falcone and Dr. Crane.
If you see what I mean, you’ll surely recognize the signs of their agendas beginning to unravel and the desperation for money, fame and ears is already beginning to die down. What I’m trying to say is, it’s popcorn time, and we should enjoy the show it’s starting. You don’t want to miss it, especially because your favorite stars will be there. I used to say the anti-GG side wants us to use the old PlayStation slogan: “Live in your world play in ours“, but I’m going to change that. From now on, until this revolt ends I’ll say this: “This is our house. You’re just a guest“.
