Putting Humanity Back at the Center of Tech Journalism?
It seems like the whole world is going #fullmcintosh at the moment. And I’m not “just” referring to all the wars, messed up economics, human misery and the fact that our planet is slowly dying. No, I’m talking about a rather strange tweet by Chrisella Herzog (Editor in Chief for WhiteHat Magazine), because miss Herzog has just started an indiegogo campaign for her WhiteHat Magazine site (“Tech for social good news“). I see no problem with that, as the whole idea behind WhiteHat Magazine is to support independent media, spark better technology journalism and to help people in need with tech (to make their lives easier, etc.). That´s great of course (with no doubt), but I don´t understand why miss Herzog had to smear #GamerGate with the following statement:
First of all, why would #GamerGate be upset over tech journalism? (unless it´s the corrupt kind), especially if it´s done for a good cause. And wouldn´t be better if WhiteHat Magazine (and Chrisella Herzog) just focus on their tasks and goals instead of taking a swing at #GamerGate? As it´s not going to help anyone in the end…Then again, all of this “might” have been a pr-stunt for all I know.
What do you guys/girls think?
