I should have known that there was something really serious going down last night. But i was really tired, so i diden´t pay all that much attention to the mail that Twitch sent out to us.

To make a long story short, they pointed out that our account “might” have been compromised. So Twitch suggest that we should change our Twitch password asap (which i also did shortly after that i´ve read the mail).

But i had no idea that Twitch had been attacked by hackers on a larger scale. I shouldn´t be all that much surprised though.

As Twitch has over 43 million viewers (and a lot of active user accounts) each month, so there´s a lot of money to be made by hacking into the Twitch database.

And i guess that´s why Twitch made this blog post two days ago:

“We are writing to let you know that there may have been unauthorized access to some Twitch user account information. For your protection, we have expired passwords and stream keys and have disconnected accounts from Twitter and YouTube.

As a result, you will be prompted to create a new password the next time you attempt to log into your Twitch account. We also recommend that you change your password at any website where you use the same or a similar password.”

Twitch has also disconnected all the Twitter and Youtube account connections to Twitch, and ALL the user passwords won´t work anymore (you have to reset your password manually). So Twitch is running a full damage control procedure at the moment.

However, Twitch is yet to comment on “how” much damage that has been done (and how many user account passwords that has been stolen).

So if you´re a Twitch user, then change your password asap!
