Microsoft Arc Mouse is a wireless mouse that amazes with its appearance and compactness. It is an ideal device for playing various games, such as porngames PC. Sophisticated appearance, large touchpad as scroll wheel and original method of turning on/off the mouse will not leave anyone indifferent.
Microsoft Arc Mouse comes in a compact, heavyweight cardboard box. The package design is understated and makes a positive impression.
The front side of the box shows the company’s logo, model name and the device itself. The back side of the box has a brief description of the device and information about compatibility in different languages. Inside the box you will find a multilanguage documentation and the mouse itself with the batteries already installed.
The first time you look at the Microsoft Arc you don’t know that there is a mouse in front of you. When turned off, the mouse looks more like a smartphone or a remote control than a manipulator.
When flat, the mouse looks more than laconic and is an elongated rectangle with rounded corners. Most of the device’s enclosure has a soft-touch coating.
About a third of Microsoft Arc Mouse is a touchpad and keys, which are not demarcated in any way. At the bottom is the Microsoft logo. On the back side, the device ends with two long stubby legs.
In the front is a proprietary optical sensor – Bluetrack laser and a device pairing button marked with a corresponding icon. The name of the manufacturer is modestly placed at the bottom of the rear side.
The device is powered by two AAA batteries, which are included in the package. So, you can get to work right away. The manufacturer promises 6 months of operation from one pair of batteries. The use of standard sized batteries is a definite plus. In case of need, suitable batteries can be easily found in any store.
Microsoft Arc mouse is very compact. When folded, it is 14 mm thick and overall dimensions are less than any modern smartphone. Such dimensions let you take the mouse everywhere you go – in your bag or breast pocket – with ease.
The main feature of Microsoft Arc Mouse is a flexible case. So it’s an unusual way to turn the mouse on and off. It doesn’t have a classic switch on the back of the mouse (like most wireless mice). Turn Arc Mouse on by bending its body into an arc, and off by unbending it flat.
To connect Microsoft Arc Mouse to your computer, just press and hold the pairing button. When the sensor blinks, your mouse shows up in the list of available Bluetooth gear. Chosen? Ready to go.
Microsoft’s Arc Mouse sits in your hand like a peculiar-looking mouse, thanks to its unconventional form factor. Your index and ring fingers rest on the left and right-hand keys. Your thumb and ring finger hold the device from the sides. Your little finger can curl up and wrap around the mouse from below, or you can put it on a mouse pad.
Arc Mouse certainly yields in ergonomics to mice of classic design, but, as a whole, it sits well in the palm of your hand. Pressing force on the keys is average. The volume of the click is below average. As a scroller, the touchpad instead of the classic scroll wheel is unusual, but quite handy.
Arc Mouse has no transmitter. Connection is via Bluetooth 4.0. That’s a definite plus, since transmitters are routinely lost. Yes, you do need to have Bluetooth on your computer, but the mouse is still more of a “go-to” mouse and will most often be used with a laptop. And laptops, as a rule, have Bluetooth as a standard feature.
The mouse is symmetric, so it is equally suitable for both right- and left-handed use. You can reconfigure the keys in the proprietary Microsoft software.
Microsoft Arc Mouse is ready to go right out of the box – no drivers or extra software to install. However, to further customize the mouse, you must install the “Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Control Center,” available for download on the device’s official website.
The software has a standard Microsoft appearance and essentially has two settings tabs.
Basic mouse settings. It is possible to configure the basic keys. For example, you can reassign the keys for left-handed use. You can also set the function for three-finger touch.
Scroll settings. Scroll sensor settings are quite extensive. You can enable and disable: vertical and horizontal scrolling. It is unlikely that someone will turn off the vertical scrolling, but horizontal scrolling is not necessary for most users. In addition, it is possible to invert the direction of scrolling.
Arc Mouse is announced to be compatible only with Windows OS, but the mouse has no problems connecting to Android 8.1 smartphone.
The Microsoft Arc Mouse is a very unusual mouse. Its futuristic appearance grabs the eye at first sight. At first glance, it is hard to tell if it is a mouse. But after you find out about the Microsoft Arc Mouse, you are doubly surprised.
The quality of materials and precision of the device is top-notch. It’s a pleasure to turn the mouse on and off by bending and straightening its case. At the same time, in spite of this “flexibility”, the device creates a feeling of solidity. It’s hard to let go of the Microsoft Arc Mouse.
Use it for extended periods of time and your hand gets tired faster than with a traditional mouse. But it’s much more comfortable than the traditional miniature notebook mouse. And when it’s turned off, the Arc Mouse slips easily into a jacket pocket without ever revealing its presence. How many mice can do this?
