Shortly after my “Half Life 3 is coming NOT!” recovery. I found out about Eidos-Montréal´s new Deus Ex project “Deus Ex Universe“. And my first thought was “Please don´t tell me that it´s a Mmo game”.
And luckely enough, that was not the case. In the matter of fact, this is what Sacha Ramtohul (Eidos-Montréal) said on the “Deus Ex goes MMO” topic just recently:
“As you can imagine, the Dawn Engine will form the cornerstone for all Deus Ex Universe projects at Eidos-Montréal,” Ramtohul said. “Some of you have had concerns that ‘Universe’ meant ‘MMO’. Rest assured, it does not.”
Universe” isn’t just one game, as it will comprise core games and “any other projects that will help bring the world of Deus Ex to life,”
“We won’t go into too much detail for now, but what we envision is for our projects to have meaningful ties to one another, in order for them to strengthen and deepen your experience within this Universe,”
“In the past, we’ve relied on existing engines for our games. But in the end, we found that our creative vision was somehow limited,” Ramtohul said. “So we decided it was time for us to invest in creating an engine tailored for our needs.” – Eidos-Montréal, Sacha Ramtohul
So, yeah. That means that we (the Deus Ex fans) got one less thing to worry about. And the “Dawn Engine” (which is “heavily modified” version of IO Interactive’s Glacier 2 engine) looks freaking awesome.
In fact, the only dark clouds that i can think of at this itme, would be the “Deus Ex: The Fall” game for iOS and PC (which received really bad grades and reviews).
But other than that, i´m really excited about Deus Ex: Universe. And IF Eidos-Montréal aims to take the whole “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” experience to the next level with Deus Ex: Universe (with the help of the Dawn Engine).
Then i´m all for it. But for now, i´m enjoying the director’s cut version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. And btw! Don´t miss out on “Deus Ex: Fallen Angel“, because you can download it for free!
So, what do you guys think about Deus Ex Universe so far?
